Secondary Cancer after Androgen Deprivation Therapy in Prostate Cancer: A Nationwide Study

open access: yesThe World Journal of Men's Health
Purpose: Androgen signaling is associated with various secondary cancer, which could be promising for potential treatment using androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). This study investigated whether ADT use was associated with secondary cancers other than

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Survival Time Analysis of Multiple Myeloma Patients using Type 1 Censored Exponential Distribution Parameter Estimation

open access: yesJTAM (Jurnal Teori dan Aplikasi Matematika)
Multiple myeloma is a type of blood cancer that attacks plasma cells in the bone marrow and affects the immune system. This study analyzes the survival time of patients with multiple myeloma using Type 1 censored exponential distributed parameter ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

A Bivariate Copula–Driven Multi-State Model for Statistical Analysis in Medical Research

open access: yesMathematics
We develop and evaluate a copula-based multistate model for illness–death processes with dependent transition times. The framework couples Cox proportional hazards models for the marginal transition intensities with Archimedean copulas to capture ...

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Survival benefit of combined immunotherapy and chemoradiotherapy in locally advanced unresectable esophageal cancer: an analysis based on the SEER database

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundWhile simultaneous chemoradiotherapy remains the established therapeutic modality for patients afflicted with locally advanced esophageal cancer, the effectiveness of this radical approach falls short of the desired outcome.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.
