Research on Soft Flutter of 420m-Span Pedestrian Suspension Bridge and Its Aerodynamic Measures

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
In order to study the flutter of long-span pedestrian suspension bridge and its aerodynamic control, a 420m-span pedestrian suspension bridge is used as an engineering example, the wind-induced vibration of seven particular aerodynamic sections is ...

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Study on nonlinear seismic characteristics of a suspension bridge(Hirao Bridge) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Evaluation of seismic safety of suspension bridges using the dynamic method is specified in the Design Specifications for Highway Bridges since the dyanamic behaviors of suspension bridges subjected to strong ground motions are complicated. In this paper,

Wearable Smart Patches on Sustainable Chitosan With Reversible Microbial Growth‐Inhibitory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chitosan, a polysaccharide upcycled from biowaste, has long promised sustainable, biocompatible, and antimicrobial films and devices, an appeal reinforced by its recent regulatory recognition, with several chitosan‐based antibacterial dressings gaining clearance through the Food and Drug Administration's 510(k) pathway.

Mathematical models of suspension bridges [PDF]

open access: yesApplications of Mathematics, 1997
Damped and non-damped oscillations of suspension bridges is considered. The behaviour of suspension bridges is simplified assuming either (i) the standard Bernoulli theory of beams combined with a unilateral response of cable stays or (ii) a coupling of the system beam-string.

Swelling‐Programmed Topographical Guidance for Dynamic Spheroid Self‐Assembly via a Mechanochemical Hydrogel Niche

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A swelling‐programmed micropatterned hydrogel guides adherent cells through a controlled transition from cell–matrix anchoring to cadherin‐mediated cell–cell compaction, enabling rapid assembly of high‐viability spheroids with defined size and morphology.

Simplified Engineering Method of Suspension Bridges With Rigid Cables Under Action of Symmetrical and Asymmetrical Loads

open access: yesThe Baltic Journal of Road and Bridge Engineering, 2006
The basic disadvantage of suspension bridges can be considered their increased deformability. One of the ways to increase the rigidity of a suspension bridge is to transfer a part of stiffening girder rigidity to a suspension cable.

A Mathematical Model of Suspension Bridges [PDF]

open access: yesApplications of Mathematics, 2004
The author considers a one-dimensional nonlinear string-beam system describing the vertical oscillations of a suspension bridge which is coupled with the main cable by the stays. The main cable is modelled as a vibrating string and the roadbed of the bridge is represented by a bending beam with simply supported ends.

Structure‐Guided Dynamical Mechanics in Bioinspired Double Twisted Laminated Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores a dynamic mechanistic study of crack propagation and puncture testing via real‐time monitoring of crack initiation, propagation, and termination through nature‐inspired single and double twisted architectures fabricated from cellulose nanocrystals.
