Surface microhardening studies on steels after high feed milling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The paper deals with the impact of high-speed machining production methods on the integrity of component surfaces. One has to point out that cutting conditions during machining have a significant impact on the final properties of surface and subsurface ...

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

Advanced Optimization of Drilling Parameters in Composite Materials: A Topsis-Based Approach for Enhanced Manufacturing Precision

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers
Drilling natural fiber composite materials is challenging due to their anisotropic and heterogeneous structure, which often leads to delamination, thermal damage, and poor surface finish. The key objective of this study is to optimize drilling parameters

Sustainable Solutions for Machine Tools [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Environmental, economic and social changes of any significant proportions cannot take place without a major shift in the manufacturing sector. In today’s manufacturing processes, economic efficiency is realised through high volumes with the use of specialised machine tools. Change in society, such as in the form of mobility and digitisation, requires a

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Hospital Readmission After Traumatic Brain Injury Hospitalization in Community‐Dwelling Older Adults

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the risk of hospital readmission after an index hospitalization for TBI in older adults. Methods Using data from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) study, we used propensity score matching of individuals with an index TBI‐related hospitalization to individuals with (1) non‐TBI hospitalizations (primary analysis)

Ketogenic Diet as an Epigenetic Therapy in SETD1B‐Related Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Histone lysine methyltransferases such as SETD1B regulate chromatin structure and gene transcription. Ketone bodies, including butyrate, act as histone deacetylase inhibitors. We report a 4‐year‐old boy with SETD1B‐related absence epilepsy, refractory to conventional medications, who achieved sustained > 90% seizure reduction on the Modified ...

On the Use of Compressed Air and Synthetic Biodegradable Cutting Fluid to Enhance the Surface Quality of WAAM–CMT Manufactured Low-Alloy Steel Parts During Post-Processing Milling with Different Cooling–Lubrication Strategies

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing
Additive manufacturing (AM) stands out for its variable applications in terms of material, quality, and geometry. Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) is remarkable for producing large parts in reduced times when compared to other AM methods.
