Global Flash Drought Prediction Through Evaporative Stress Forecasting
Abstract Flash droughts pose severe risks to societies and ecosystems due to their sudden onset and rapid intensification. Predicting their vegetation impacts at subseasonal timescales remains difficult. Advances in hybrid physics‐AI models and weather forecasting create new opportunities to enhance the predictability of evaporative stress, a key ...

Inactivation of the Nrf2/Are pathway in AD leads to decreased antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory response and to the accumulation of beta‐amyloid (Aβ) plaques, resulting in cognitive failure. Treatment with Isoeugenol activates Nrf2, reversing these outcomes by promoting antioxidant response in neuronal cells (N2a) and by increasing the anti ...

Objective There is growing evidence that knee osteoarthritis (OA), a significant source of chronic pain, is only partly explained by joint pathophysiology, varies significantly between individuals and may be partly driven by changes in periarticular tissues.

Purpose To investigate the acute effects of passive movement on rectus femoris (RF) stiffness, flexibility, and subjective knee joint pain in patients with Osgood‐Schlatter disease (OSD). Methods Patients with bilateral OSD at the orthopedic clinic between July 2023 and June 2025 were prospectively enrolled.

ABSTRACT Background Many childhood and adolescent cancer survivors suffer from late effects that impair quality of life and life expectancy. However, only an estimated 5% of > 47,000 survivors in Germany receive adequate long‐term follow‐up (LTFU) care.

Using 16 flume experiments and 2D modeling, we show that large‐wood flow resistance is not a fixed property of wood porosity but varies systematically with flow condition, blockage and most strongly sediment‐shaped bed topography. The drag coefficient and Manning's n are interchangeable, but calibration is essential where scour occurs.

ABSTRACT Background and Aims Obesity is a growing public health concern and major risk factor for conditions including non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. This study aimed to assess the early effects of one anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) surgery on metabolic risk factors and liver‐related parameters in ...

Results showed snowpack to be the primary driver of springtime flow in the low‐relief, humid Upper Midwest U.S., with overall winter precipitation and thawing acting as key secondary drivers impacting hydrological flux partitioning across the land surface.

Two hydrological model configurations with contrasting snow process complexity were evaluated in a high‐alpine, snow‐dominated karst catchment (2014–2025) at Mount Zugspitze (Germany). Despite comparable discharge simulation performance and water balances, the models show substantial differences in internal process representation.

Changes in Muscle Mass and Quality Mediate the Effect of High‐Calorie Intake on Clinical Outcomes
ABSTRACT Background Critically ill patients frequently experienced acquired muscle dysfunction, which adversely affects outcomes. The relationship between calorie intake, muscle dysfunction and outcomes remains unclear. This study aims to determine if early calorie intake affects patients' outcomes through changes in skeletal muscle mass or quality ...
