Mechanical Construction of Switched Reluctance Machines

2019
This chapter describes the components and assembly of switched reluctance motors (SRM). It provides a discussions on SRM design and manufacturing. Assembly considerations with respect to lamination alignment, rotor balance, and shaft alignment are discussed to provide guidance on mechanical design of SRMs.

A Novel Unidirectional Switched Reluctance Machine

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1993
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A novel, two-phase, switched reluctance machine concept is presented. Pole side shaping assures that the machine can develop motoring torque from any static position. Pole face shaping is introduced to control the nature of flux linkages as a function of position, allowing reduction in position-dependent torque ...

Noise and Vibration in Switched Reluctance Machines

2019
Acoustic noise and vibration is the most well-known issue in Switched Reluctance Machine (SRM). Due to the salient pole construction of SRMs, when a phase is excited with current, the flux penetrates into the rotor, mostly in the radial direction, and generates radial forces. Mechanical components and connections also contribute to the noise production

Axial Flux Switched Reluctance Machines

2019
Switched reluctance machines (SRM) can fall into three classifications based on the direction of flux through the air gap: radial, transversal, and axial flux. The first axial flux machine was developed in 1821 by British physicist Michael Faraday. He invented a primitive disc motor that was the early form of an electric machine.
