Optimized-Sector-Based Model Predictive Torque Control With Sliding Mode Controller for Switched Reluctance Motor

IEEE transactions on energy conversion
In this article, an optimized-sector-based model predictive torque control (OSB-MPTC) strategy is proposed to reduce the torque ripple of the switched reluctance motors (SRMs).

A new flux and multilevel hysteresis torque band DTC with lookup table‐based switched reluctance motor drive to suppress torque ripple

International journal of circuit theory and applications
The switched reluctance motor (SRM) is a prominent electrical machine drive with low cost and good performance in different drive applications. This machine's main drawbacks are torque ripple and flux ripple.

Experimental Verification of Acoustic Noise and Radial Force Sum Variation in Switched Reluctance Motor

IEEE transactions on industry applications, 2021
Acoustic noise reduction is one of the main topics of switched reluctance motor (SRM) developments. One of the effective methods is flattening three-phase radial force sum. This method is verified in experiments by optimizing the current profile.

Speed-thrust control of a double sided linear switched reluctance motor (DSL-SRM)

2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2008
The speed and thrust control strategy for a double sided linear switched reluctance motor (DSL-SRM) is elaborated in the paper, based on a simplified analytical model. The strategy is defined for different motor phase supply conditions and the dynamic characteristics are calculated via computer simulation for a sample motor, in order to sustain the ...

Switched Reluctance Motor Drives (SRM)

2010
The principle of operation of reluctance machines are known for a long time. In 1838 a locomotive was driven by such a motor in Scotland. The stepper motor which also works on the principle of variable reluctance was patented by CL Walker in 1920. The basic concepts of switched reluctance motors in present form were first introduced by SA Nasar in his ...

Segmented rotor design of concentrated wound switched reluctance motor (SRM) for torque ripple minimization

2016 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2016
Torque ripple minimization of concentrated wound segmented rotor SRM is achieved through rotor segment designs. Compared to existing ripple minimization techniques the proposed method does not require current profiling, controller complexity or additional converter components.

Review of Controlling of Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM) Drive Techniques in Micro-grid

Journal of Advances in Science and Technology
There has been growing interest in the switching reluctance motor in both the academic andbusiness communities. The minimal cost of construction and the fact that no rare materials are requiredare two of Micro-most grid's lauded qualities. Switched reluctance motors are more difficult tomanipulate than conventional machines.

Design and optimization of direct drive 8/6 External-Rotor Switched Reluctance Motor (Ex-R SRM) for low speed application

2017 IEEE International Magnetics Conference (INTERMAG), 2017
This paper presents a design and optimization of an 8/6 External-Rotor Switched Reluctance Motor for a low speed domestic application as direct drive. The initial design dimensions are derived from the analytical calculation using magnetic equivalent circuit. This is further analyzed and verified with finite element analysis.

Conversion of shaded-pole induction motor to switched reluctance motor and effects of pole shoe and notch on SRM noise

2013 IEEE XXXIII International Scientific Conference Electronics and Nanotechnology (ELNANO), 2013
The switched reluctance motor (SRM) is well known for its higher acoustic noise, caused by stator vibrations. This paper describes a method for noise reduction in a new stator pole face SRM having pole shoe and notch. This motor has been made by conversion shaded-pole induction motor to SRM. Static characteristic of the motor is analyzed and calculated

System Identification of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) Using Black Box Method for Electric Vehicle Speed Control System

2019 6th International Conference on Electric Vehicular Technology (ICEVT), 2019
Switched reluctance motor (SRM) as a driving force has a very important role in an electric vehicle because of the ability to produce large torque about 12.3 Nm and speed about 9600 rpm. Currently, there is no suitable model that represents the real SRM motor.
