Overview of timing/synchronization for digital communications [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
Systems in general, and switched systems in particular, are explained. It pointed out some of the criteria that greatly influence timing/synchronization subsystem design for a military communications network but have little or no significance for civil ...

A Simultaneous Adaptation Law for a Class of Nonlinearly Parametrized Switched Systems

open access: yesIEEE Control Systems Letters, 2019
This letter proposes a new adaptive control method for a class of nonlinearly parametrized switched systems that includes Monod kinetics and Euler–Lagrange systems with nonlinear in parameters form as special cases.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Switched Observer Design for a Class of Non-Linear Systems

open access: yesApplied System Innovation
This paper is concerned with the switched observer design for a class of systems subject to locally Lipschitz non-linearities. By performing a suitable description of the estimation error dynamics into a linear parameter varying (LPV) system ...

Delay-Independent Stability of Switched Linear Systems with Unbounded Time-Varying Delays

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2012
This paper is focused on delay-independent stability analysis for a class of switched linear systems with time-varying delays that can be unbounded. When the switched system is not necessarily positive, we first establish a delay-independent stability ...

Dietary nitrate and nitrite protect against doxorubicin‐induced cardiac fibrosis and oxidative protein damage in tumor‐bearing mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapies such as doxorubicin can have toxic effects on healthy cardiovascular/heart tissue. Following up on a doxorubicin toxicity study in mice without tumors where nitrate water was cardioprotective (lessened toxicity), this study with tumor‐bearing mice undergoing doxorubicin treatment showed no negative effect of nitrate and nitrite on drug ...
