Phenotypic cross‐species conservation and cross‐generation directionality switching in epigenetic inheritance

Molecular Ecology, 2022
Abstract Evidence supporting non‐DNA sequence‐based inheritance in animals has increasingly been described in recent years, often under intergenerational inheritance or transgenerational epigenetic inheritance (TEI).

Basics of Switches and Crossings

2023
Switches and crossings are the essential elements of railway lines, stations and yards, in that they allow a train to change directions or a vehicle to be transferred from one track to another. Their main characteristics and classifications are concisely described in this chapter.

Crossing Classified and Corrected Fewest Switches Surface Hopping

The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2018
In the traditional fewest switches surface hopping (FSSH), trivial crossings between uncoupled or weakly coupled states have highly peaked nonadiabatic couplings and thus are difficult to deal with in the preferred, adiabatic representation. Here, we classify surface crossings into four general types and propose a parameter-free crossing corrected FSSH

Improving Switches and Crossings Performance and Reliability

International Journal of Railway Technology, 2016
Network Rail, the infrastructure manager of UK, is currently focussing on improving the reliability and performance of switches and crossings layouts. Site investigations have revealed many poorly performing switches and crossings sites that require intensive maintenance intervention with associated costs and safety implications.

Cross trained workers with switching points, switching cost and optional feedback

2011 3rd International Conference on Electronics Computer Technology, 2011
In this paper a service facility with the front room and the back room has limited number of servers. Two models are analysed. In the first model, given the number of available workers, we determine an optimal policy so that the expected number of customers in queue is minimized subject to a constraint ensuring that there is a sufficient work force to ...

Switches, cross-talk and memory in Escherichia coli adherence

Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2004
Escherichia coli is a successful commensal and pathogen. Its pathogenic diversity stems from the acquisition and expression of multiple virulence-associated loci. Many of the key virulence factors are surface structures involved in adherence and motility.

Field Experimental Studies of Railway Switches and Crossings

Civil-Comp Proceedings, 2012
Switches and crossings are the weakest point in the rail infrastructure, with a high rate of failure in comparison with plain lines arising from the amplified dynamic forces that occur as vehicles ...

Photonic Switching and Automatic Cross-Connect Systems

Topical Meeting on Photonic Switching, 1987
There will be an explosion of digital facilities as more and more lightwave systems are installed in the next few years. The size and complexity of junction offices where transmission facilities are interconnected will increase, and rearrangements will be more frequent than in the past.

Monolithically integrated WDM cross-connect switch for nanoseconds wavelength, space, and time switching

2015 European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC), 2015
We present a novel photonic integrated 4×4 WDM cross-connect switch exploiting SOA technology for nanoseconds wavelength, space, and time switching operation. Experimental results show a cross-talk <; -30dB, lossless and error-free operation with <;1dB penalty.
