Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Fast barrier-free switching in synthetic antiferromagnets

open access: yesScientific Reports
AbstractWe analytically solve the Landau-Lifshitz equations for the collective magnetization dynamics in a synthetic antiferromagnet (SAF) nanoparticle and uncover a regime of barrier-free switching under a short small-amplitude magnetic field pulse applied perpendicular to the SAF plane.

Non-volatile optical switch of resistance in photoferroelectric tunnel junctions

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Designing energy efficient and fast optoelectric neuromorphic systems remains a challenge. Long et al. report that the combined optical-electric stimulus enables switching the ferroelectric polarization and cycling the resistance state of BaTiO3 tunnel ...

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Design of a 10 kV SiC MOSFET-based high-density, high-efficiency, modular medium-voltage power converter

open access: yesiEnergy, 2022
Simultaneously imposed challenges of high-voltage insulation, high dv/dt, high-switching frequency, fast protection, and thermal management associated with the adoption of 10 kV SiC MOSFET, often pose nearly insurmountable barriers to potential users ...

Transistor Switches Using Active Piezoelectric Gate Barriers

open access: yesIEEE Journal on Exploratory Solid-State Computational Devices and Circuits, 2015
This work explores the consequences of introducing a piezoelectric gate barrier in a normal field-effect transistor. Because of the positive feedback of strain and piezoelectric charge, internal charge amplification occurs in such an electromechanical capacitor resulting in a negative capacitance.

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Factors Affecting Mobile Users’ Switching Intentions: A Comparative Study between the Brazilian and German Markets [PDF]

open access: yesBAR: Brazilian Administration Review, 2013
In the competitive wireless market, there are many drivers behind customer defection. Switching barriers, service performance, perceived value in carriers’ offers, satisfaction and other constructs can play a pivotal role in customer switching processes ...
