Natural Variation of NAR5 Determines Nitrogenase Activity and the Yield in Soybean

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identified NAR5, a gene encoding a subtilisin‐like protease, that regulates nitrogenase activity in soybean nodules. Overexpressing NAR5 delayed nodule senescence, enhancing nitrogenase activity, yield, and low‐nitrogen tolerance. The elite haplotype NAR5HapI‐1 linked to superior nitrogenase activity and greater seed weight has been ...

The Isolation of Symbiotic Streptococci [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology, 1974
SUMMARY Seven strains of streptococci that grow on normal media only as satellite colonies to bacteria and fungi are described. Medium containing pyridoxine hydrochloride in concentration 0·2 μg per ml or greater supported normal growth of all these organisms.

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

Contribution of the Electron Scattering Process to the Broad Hα Wings

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2012
We modeled the extended wings of the OVI 1032, 1038 Å resonance lines and He II 1640 Å emission line in the spectra of Z And, AG Dra and V1016 Cyg by the electron scattering process.

Peculiarities of symbiotic and non-symbiotic reproduction of orchids

open access: yesІнтродукція Рослин, 2010
The one of well developed methods of reproduction of orchids is seed reproduction in vitro. Two methods – symbiotic and non-symbiotic – are common for seed germination of Orchidaceae in sterile culture. Large experience in orchids reproduction is accumulated and numerous theoretical and practical studies of orchids reproduction are conducted, but ...

A Modular PLUG‐IN Photosynthetic Chassis With Tunable Thermal Control for Mammalian Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work establishes a “plug‐in” chassis compatible with mammalian systems that synchronizes growth, production, and cell‐wall re‐configuration, providing a versatile platform for photosynthetic bioproduction and microalgal synthetic biology. ABSTRACT Microalgae are promising photosynthetic platforms for high‐value compounds, yet their industrial use ...

The X-Ray Evolution of the Symbiotic Star V407 Cyg During its 2010 Outburst

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2012
We present a summary of Swift and Suzaku X-ray observations of the 2010 nova outburst of the symbiotic star, V407 Cyg. the Suzaku spectrum obtained on day 30 indicates the presence of the supersoft component from the white dwarf surface, as well as ...
