MYCORRHIZAL GROWTH RESPONSE AND GLOMALIN PRODUCTION EFFECTED BY ARBUSCULAR MYCORRHIZAL FUNGI (AMF) AND NITROGEN OF ORGANIC MATERIALS ON CORN

open access: yesInternational Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2017
Symbiotic relationships between arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and plants can increase the capacity of plants to absorb nutrients and water from the soil by exploring micropores not accessible to plant roots.

Bacterial Outer Membrane Vesicles in Potentiating Cancer Vaccines: Progress and Prospects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bacterial outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) have emerged as versatile platforms for cancer vaccine development owing to their intrinsic immunostimulatory properties and high engineering flexibility. This review summarizes OMV biology, immune mechanisms, and engineering strategies that enhance vaccine efficacy, discusses key translational challenges, and ...

Shock fronts in the symbiotic system BI Crucis

open access: yes, 2009
We investigate the symbiotic star BI Crucis through a comprehensive and self-consistent analysis of the spectra emitted in three different epochs: 60's, 70's, and late 80's.

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

Self-Energy-Harvesting Pacemakers: An Example of Symbiotic Synthetic Biology

open access: yesSynBio
While synthetic biology has traditionally focused on creating biological systems often through genetic engineering, emerging technologies, for example, implantable pacemakers with integrated piezo-electric and tribo-electric materials are beginning to ...

Symbiotic Theorization [PDF]

open access: yesCustomer Needs and Solutions, 2014
Grounded theory method (GTM) is the standard theorization approach used to develop theories grounded in data (TGD). In this paper, I propose symbiotic theorization (ST) as an alternate approach to developing theories grounded in data. Compared to GTM, ST elevates the role of subject matter owners (SMOs, the people whose behaviors a theoretician is ...

Self‐Amplifying Redox Cycle Triggers Ferroptosis/Cuproptosis Synergy for Enhanced Bacterial Eradication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study designs a targeted nanocomposite (ct@HMCF‐Dex) that responds to acidic infection microenvironments, releasing components which amplify oxidative stress. It disrupts bacterial redox balance, chelates metals to sustain lipid peroxidation, and synergistically induces cuproptosis/ferroptosis‐like death.

Challenges for the Implantation of Symbiotic Nanostructured Medical Devices

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
We discuss the perspectives of designing implantable medical devices that have the criterion of being symbiotic. Our starting point was whether the implanted device is intended to have any two-way (“duplex”) communication of energy or materials with the ...
