Hydrogen-uptake genes improve symbiotic efficiency in common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) [PDF]
Hydrogen-uptake (Hup) activity is implicated in the mitigation of energy losses associated with the biological nitrogen fixation process, and has been related to productivity increases in some legume hosts. However, in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) the expression of hydrogenase is rare.

Characterizing the Energy-Efficiency Region of Symbiotic Radio Communications
Symbiotic radio (SR) communication is a promising technology to achieve spectrum- and energy-efficient wireless communication, by enabling passive backscatter devices (BDs) reuse not only the spectrum, but also the power of active primary transmitters (PTs).

A Proteomic Network for Symbiotic Nitrogen Fixation Efficiency in Bradyrhizobium elkanii [PDF]
Rhizobia colonize legumes and reduce N2 to NH3 in root nodules. The current model is that symbiotic rhizobia bacteroids avoid assimilating this NH3. Instead, host legume cells form glutamine from NH3, and the nitrogen is returned to the bacteroid as dicarboxylates, peptides, and amino acids.
