X-rays from shock-heated gas in recurrent-nova remnants Nested nova shells in a structured circumstellar medium

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Recurrent symbiotic novae such as RS Oph show extended X-ray emission associated with the interaction of nova ejecta with the circumstellar environment. Aims.

Early emergence of super-soft-source emission in RS Oph

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Early in the 2006 outburst of the recurrent nova RS Oph, Swift detected the onset of the super-soft-source (SSS) phase. An XMM-Newton observation obtained on day 26.1 revealed a highly unusual soft X-ray spectrum containing transient narrow ...

Analysis of the Gaia DR3 planetary nebula candidates and the possible symbiotic stars among them

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. The Gaia DR3, released in June 2022, included low-resolution BP/RP (XP) spectra that have been exploited for the classification of various types of emission-line objects using machine-learning techniques.

Insights into the evolution of symbiotic recurrent novae from radio synchrotron emission: V745 Scorpii and RS Ophiuchi

open access: yes, 2016
We present observations at 610 and 235 MHz using the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) of the recurrent nova V745 Scorpii which recorded its last outburst on 2014 February 6.

Lack of Significant Orbital-phase Locking in the Active Phases of the Recurrent Nova T CrB

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
T Coronae Borealis (T CrB) is a symbiotic recurrent nova that exhibits both nova eruptions and long-term active phases resembling superoutbursts and normal outbursts.

A Multiwavelength Study of the Symbiotic Mira HM Sge with SOFIA and HST

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We have targeted the dusty symbiotic Mira system HM Sge with four instruments from the IR to the UV. We have used these observations along with archival observations to study how the system has been evolving after its 1975 nova-like outburst.

SYMBIOTIC NOVA V1016 CYG AS INTERACTING BINARY

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2017
Long-term UBV photoelectric and photographic photometry of the symbiotic nova V1016 Cyg is discussed. The pre-outburst brightening in 1949, main nova-like outburst in 1964 and two small brightenings in 1980 and 1994 suggest 15.1 ± 0.2 years period of activity.

Multiwavelength study of the pre-eruption dip in the recurrent nova T Coronae Borealis preceding imminent nova eruption

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
We present a multiwavelength study of the symbiotic recurrent nova T Coronae Borealis (T CrB), using the Swift Burst Alert Telescope (BAT)/ X-Ray Telescope (XRT) / UltraViolet Optical Telescope (UVOT) and American Association of Variable Stars Observers (

Modeling the High-brightness State of the Recurrent Nova T CrB as an Enhanced Mass-transfer Event

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
T Coronae Borealis is the nearest symbiotic recurrent nova. Twice in the last two centuries, in 1866 and 1946, the accreted material ignited on the surface of the white dwarf via runaway thermonuclear fusion reactions and produced a nova eruption.
