Symbolic Dynamical Characterization for Multistability in Remote Synchronization Phenomena
Two of the most remarkable phenomena in non-linear systems are multistability and remote synchronization. In the first one, depending on the initial conditions, the system may set in different states after the transient, while in the other, dynamical ...

Newton’s method and symbolic dynamics [PDF]
The starting point of the paper is a result by B. Barna stating the convergence of Newton's method to a root of a polynomial, except for a set of initial points homeomorphic to a Cantor set. The assumptions of Barna's theorem are that: (1) the polynomial has degree at least four; (2) all the roots are real, distinct, and simple.

Memory and Resting‐State Connectivity in Acute Transient Global Amnesia: A Case–Control fMRI Study
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a striking model of isolated amnesia. While hippocampal lesions are well described, the network‐level mechanisms and the precise neuropsychological profile remain debated. Our objective was thus to characterize functional and neuropsychological correlates of acute TGA and their ...

Blind System Identification Using Symbolic Dynamics
In this paper, a chaos-based approach is proposed for system identification with binary random signal. A chaos-based approach is developed to model random binary sequence and is applied to blind system identification.

Markovian language model of the DNA and its information content [PDF]
This work proposes a Markovian memoryless model for the DNA that simplifies enormously the complexity of it. We encode nucleotide sequences into symbolic sequences, called words, from which we establish meaningful length of words and groups of words that

Two results on entropy, chaos, and independence in symbolic dynamics
We survey the connections between entropy, chaos, and independence in topological dynamics. We present extensions of two classical results placing the following notions in the context of symbolic dynamics: 1.

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

There is a lack of studies on non-linear heart rate (HR) variability in athletes. We aimed to assess the usefulness of short-term HR dynamics and asymmetry parameters to evaluate the neural modulation of cardiac activity based on non-stationary RR ...
