P Systems with Symport/Antiport and Time

2006
We consider symport/antiport P systems using the time as the support for the output of a computation. We describe and study the properties of “timed symport/antiport systems”, showing that this new model of membrane systems based on time has more power/flexibility, and thus allows us to improve previous universality results.

Sodium Iodide Symporter in Thyroid Carcinoma

2012
Thyroid iodide uptake is essential for the clinical application of radioiodine in patients with well-differentiated thyroid carcinoma. Iodide uptake occurs across the plasma membranes of thyroid follicular cells and cancer cells via an active transporter process mediated by sodium iodide symporter (NIS).
