Theoretical and Experimental Reevaluation of Synchronous Reluctance Machine
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2010This paper theoretically introduces and develops a new operation diagram (OPD) and parameter estimator for the synchronous reluctance machine (SynRM). The OPD demonstrates the behavior of the machine's main performance parameters, such as torque, current, voltage, frequency, flux, power factor (PF), and current angle, all in one graph. This diagram can

Synchronous Reluctance Machine Optimization for High-Speed Applications
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2018The synchronous reluctance machines with transversally laminated rotor and multi flux barriers per pole reach a high torque density, so that they are proposed as a valid alternative to permanent magnet machines. Such machines have been analyzed for different applications, mainly home appliance, industrial tool, traction, up to low-speed high-power ...

2020 27th International Workshop on Electric Drives: MPEI Department of Electric Drives 90th Anniversary (IWED), 2020
Since the dominant induction machines and permanent magnet synchronous machines are well-established in the industry, the reluctance machines require more research work and investigation to substitute the conventional technologies. This paper analyzes the synchronous reluctance machines and permanent magnet-assisted synchronous reluctance machines in ...

Optimal design of synchronous reluctance machines
IECON 2017 - 43rd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2017Electric machines are optimized to the extent of their magnetic configuration and manufacturability. Thanks to recent advances in development of composite material (SMC), 3-D printing, and programmable magnets, manufacturing capabilities have changed dramatically.

Thermal Analysis of Synchronous Reluctance Machines – A Review
Electric Power Components and Systems, 2019Synchronous Reluctance Machines (SynRMs) are facing a revamped industrial interest. A comparison between SynRMs and other types of electric machines allow listing the advantages and proving the choice of such machines. This paper presents a review of SynRMs, regarding particularly their thermal analysis.

Control of synchronous reluctance machines
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1993This work develops a comprehensive approach to the control of inverter-fed synchronous reluctance machines (SYNCREL), based on the machine's ideal model. From the theory a control simulation is designed. Simulation and experimental results are presented. The effects of saturation and iron losses are briefly considered. >

Dynamic Testing Characterization of a Synchronous Reluctance Machine
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2016The Dynamic Testing Method has been shown to accurately characterize the electromagnetic model of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines by describing the relationship between the phase currents and the linked magnetic flux. Within this work, a performance evaluation of the Dynamic Testing Method applied to the Synchronous Reluctance Machine is ...

Electromechanical interaction in a synchronous reluctance machine
SPEEDAM 2010, 2010Electromagnetic forces on a whirling rotor of a synchronous reluctance machine are studied using time-discretized 2D finite-element analysis. The whirling motion generates eccentricity harmonics in the air-gap field. These harmonics may further induce circulating currents in the windings of the machine.

Efficient control of reluctance synchronous machines
IECON '98. Proceedings of the 24th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (Cat. No.98CH36200), 2002This paper shows that maximum efficiency control (ME) in reluctance synchronous machines (RSM) belongs to the class of constant angle control strategies. It is also shown that for all constant angle control strategies, efficiency is constant and independent of torque (current), being only a function of speed.

Design and optimization of synchronous reluctance machine
Proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Mechatronics - Mechatronika 2014, 2014This paper deals with the design of synchronous reluctance machine of the transverse-laminated type. Rotor design has been made for two different rotor geometries based on general design recommendations. These geometries are studied and compared by using 2D finite element analysis. The geometries are developed by optimization algorithms after that. The
