A molecular synchrotron [PDF]

open access: yesNature Physics, 2007
Many of the tools for manipulating the motion of neutral atoms and molecules take their inspiration from techniques developed for charged particles. Traps for atoms-akin to the Paul trap for ions-have paved the way for many exciting experiments, ranging from ultra-precise clocks to creating quantum degenerate matter.

Noncommutative synchrotron [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2004
We study the departures from the classical synchrotron radiation due to noncommutativity of coordinates. We find that these departures are significant, but do not give tight bounds on the magnitude of the noncommutative parameter. On the other hand, these results could be used in future investigations in this direction. We also find an acausal behavior

Extendible-energy synchrotrons [PDF]

open access: greenNuclear Instruments and Methods, 1967
Abstract Synchrotron guide-field arrangements have been developed that provide for a convinient and economical later increase in energy by the addition of components omitted in the initial construction. Criteria for the design of such an accelerator include new considerations such as emphasis on small circumference to reduce initial costs and on ...

SYNCHROTRON POLARIZATION IN BLAZARS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2014
We present a detailed analysis of time- and energy-dependent synchrotron polarization signatures in a shock-in-jet model for gamma-ray blazars. Our calculations employ a full 3D radiation transfer code, assuming a helical magnetic field throughout the jet.

Independent Evidence for the Preservation of Endogenous Bone Biochemistry in a Specimen of Tyrannosaurus rex

open access: yesBiology, 2023
Biomolecules preserved in deep time have potential to shed light on major evolutionary questions, driving the search for new and more rigorous methods to detect them.

Comparison of the 3D-microstructure of human alveolar and fibula bone in microvascular autologous bone transplantation: a synchrotron radiation μ-CT study

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2023
Introduction: Autologous bone transplantation is successfully used in reconstructive surgery of large/critical-sized bone defects, whereby the microvascular free fibula flap is still regarded as the gold standard for the reconstruction of such defects in

Mapping nanocrystal orientations via scanning Laue diffraction microscopy for multi-peak Bragg coherent diffraction imaging

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, 2023
The recent commissioning of a movable monochromator at the 34-ID-C endstation of the Advanced Photon Source has vastly simplified the collection of Bragg coherent diffraction imaging (BCDI) data from multiple Bragg peaks of sub-micrometre scale samples ...

Glycoscience@Synchrotron: Synchrotron radiation applied to structural glycoscience [PDF]

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2017
Synchrotron radiation is the most versatile way to explore biological materials in different states: monocrystalline, polycrystalline, solution, colloids and multiscale architectures. Steady improvements in instrumentation have made synchrotrons the most flexible intense X-ray source.

High-pressure single-crystal diffraction at the Australian Synchrotron

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, 2023
A new high-pressure single-crystal diffraction setup has been designed and implemented at the Australian Synchrotron for collecting molecular and protein crystal structures. The setup incorporates a modified micro-Merrill–Bassett cell and holder designed
