Synthesis of Bimetallic (Iron–Cobalt) Single Atom Catalysts for Electrochemical Detection of Nitrites

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A CO2 laser‐assisted solid‐state synthesis of a bimetallic single‐atom catalyst is presented. The resulting material consists of a 3D porous graphene support with iron and cobalt atoms anchored as single atoms. Through electrochemical methods, the material's efficiency is demonstrated in the sensitive and selective determination of nitrite, mimicking ...

Effective Molecular Alignment of Semiconducting Polymer and Its Application to Photopatterned Stretchable Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Excellent mobility is achieved in intrinsically stretchable, fine‐patterned organic thin‐film transistors (OTFTs) through well‐aligned molecular arrangements. Abstract Intrinsically stretchable organic transistors are promising solutions for realizing stretchable electronic systems, such as skin‐like wearables and next‐generation displays. Nevertheless,

Carbon‐Cloth Supported ZnO Nanorods as Binder‐Free Zinc‐Ion Battery Anodes: An Investigation into the Electrode Formation Process

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
A freestanding ZnO nanorod array on carbon cloth (ZnO/CC) is synthesized via hydrothermal growth and studied during its electrochemical reduction to Zn. Advanced characterization techniques (SEM, HRTEM, and STXM) reveal the morphochemical evolution of ZnO nanorods, providing unprecedented insights into the ZnO‐to‐Zn conversion mechanism.

Nanocrystal Compressive Residual Stresses: A Strategy to Strengthen the Bony Spines of Osteocytic and Anosteocytic Fish

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Advanced neoteleost fishbones, such as medaka, challenge bone adaptation strategies. While zebrafish bones contain osteocyte‐mediated porosity, medaka bones lack it, raising questions about alternative reinforcement mechanisms. Using advanced imaging, this study reveals higher residual compressive strains in medaka bone, suggesting an adaptation that ...

Phase Transformation and Microstructural Evolution of CuS Electrodes in Solid‐State Batteries Probed by In Situ 3D X‐Ray Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 13, Issue 2, January 13, 2023., 2023
Using in situ X‐ray tomography, the phase transformation and microstructural evolution of a copper sulfide cathode in solid‐state batteries is 3D visualized and characterized. Copper inclusions generate after phase transformation and the electrode cracks have a strong preferential orientation within the x‐y plane of the cell.
