Synovial membrane asks for independence
Synovial membrane is traditionally considered as a part of the joint capsule. It, however, differs from fibrous part of the capsule in development, structure, function, vascularisation, innervation and involvement in pathological processes. Moreover, in some areas, it even does not contact with the fibrous capsule.

Based on the poor cartilage penetration of tFNA, a novel tFNA‐2WL with excellent cartilage permeability and perfect chondrocyte endocytosis properties is designed and fabricated. As a result, tFNA‐2WL has a nearly seven‐fold increase in the penetration depth into the cartilage, with the same excellent cell entry properties as tFNA.

The schematic diagram delineates the chondroprotective effects of Ca‐bMSN in OA models. The upper portion of the diagram depicts the synthesis process of Ca‐bMSN. The lower section illustrates the post‐injection of Ca‐bMSN in joint cavity, catalpol released and subsequently mediates the reduction of oxidative stress, ECM catabolism, apoptosis, and ...

ELECTRON MICROSCOPY OF THE HUMAN SYNOVIAL MEMBRANE [PDF]
The structure of the lining cells at the surface of the synovial membrane facing the joint cavity has been studied by electron microscopy. The long cytoplasmic processes of these cells appear to be oriented toward the surface of the membrane, where they overlap and intertwine.

This study develops a cartilage‐targeted DNA origami system (OCS) that protects and delivers si‐Stat3 to chondrocytes. OCS reduces MMP13 expression, enhances extracellular matrix stability, and lowers oxidative stress while improving cell survival. In vivo, OCS decreases cartilage degradation biomarkers and promotes tissue repair factors, demonstrating

A neglected case of giant synovial chondromatosis in knee joint
Synovial chondromatosis is a rare benign condition arising from the synovial membrane of the joints, synovial sheaths or bursae around the joints. Primary synovial chondromatosis typically affects the large joints in the third to fifth decade of life ...

The MOF material UIO‐66‐NH2 is functionalized with DBCO groups on its surface, encapsulating NO‐prednisolone and conjugating it with azide‐modified IL‐10. Finally, the complex is extruded with MM to form biomimetic functional nanoparticles. Upon intra‐articular injection, MI@UN, enveloped by the MM, specifically targets synovial macrophages, is ...

ULTRASTRUCTURE OF THE MOUSE SYNOVIAL MEMBRANE [PDF]
AbstractThe synovial membrane of the mouse knee joint was examined by electron microscopy and electron microscopic histochemistry, with special reference to the development of the extracellular matrix. In the embryonic synovium, the intercellular spaces were filled with hyaluronate and chondroitin sulfate.
