Preparation of rat synovial membrane for studies of cytokine secretion.

open access: yes, 2007
The objective of this work was to devise an in vitro system for studies on cytokine secretion by synovial membrane treated as a whole organ with various synoviocyte populations.

Multimodal Integration of Protein Interactomes With Genomic and Molecular Data Discovers Distinct Rheumatoid Arthritis Endotypes

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a heterogeneous autoimmune disease characterized by clinical and molecular heterogeneity, notably in the presence of anti–cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) antibodies. Patients with CCP+ RA exhibit more severe disease progression and distinct treatment responses compared to patients with CCP− RA.

CD14 Plays a Critical Role in Pain and Inflammation Across Multiple Models of Post‐traumatic Osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective We employed global genetic deletion of CD14 and intra‐articular CD14 blockade across multiple murine osteoarthritis (OA) models that vary in severity of pathology and rate of progression to test the hypothesis that CD14 inhibition attenuates synovial inflammation and associated pain during disease progression.

Mononuclear cells recovered from inflammatory synovial membrane using fine-needle biopsy

open access: yes, 1988
A simple technique for fine-needle aspiration biopsy from the synovial membrane of arthritis knee joints preceded by lavage of the joint cavity is described. The procedure was atraumatic, well accepted, and could be performed on outpatients.

Atlantoodontoid Synovial Membrane in Rheumatoid Arthritis : Gadolinium-Enhanced MRI Imaging

open access: yes, 2002
The thickness and the effect of enhancement of atlantoodontoid synovial membrane in patients of rheumatoid arthritis were evaluated and correlated with clinical symptoms.

PEPITEM Regulates the Synovial Microenvironment During Immune‐Mediated Inflammatory Arthritis to Limit Disease

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Here we investigate the status of the adiponectin–PEPITEM pathway in early, treatment naive rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and the therapeutic efficacy of PEPITEM administration in preclinical models. Methods Peripheral blood was isolated from patients with clinical suspect arthralgia and suspected inflammatory ...

Synovial cell metabolism and chronic inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis

open access: yesArthritis & Rheumatology, 2018
Metabolomic studies of body fluids show that immune‐mediated inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are associated with metabolic disruption.

Targeting human synovium using homing peptides identified by in vivo phage display

open access: yes, 2009
PhDRheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting diarthrodial synovial joints. Non-random patterns of inflammatory cell recruitment suggest the presence of synovial-specific vascular determinants which enable recruitment of ...

Tissue Damage in Rheumatoid Arthritis Is Genetically Linked to Low Peptidylglycine Alpha‐Amidating Monooxygenase Activity in Synovial Fibroblasts

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Both susceptibility to, and severity of, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is associated with the rs26232 C allele. Our primary aim was to identify the biologic mechanism underlying this association. Methods Expression of surrounding genes was compared among rs26232 genotypes.
