Robust Sensorless Flux and Position Estimation for SynRMs

IECON 2023- 49th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2023
We show that the gradient observer proposed in Bernard & Praly, IFAC 2017 for PMSMs, can be used to estimate the stator flux of SynRMs, using only electrical measurements and the knowledge of the resistance. This sensorless observer ensures global convergence of the flux estimate provided therotation speed and the current norm remains away from zero ...

SynRM saliencies evaluation for rotor position estimation

2020 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2020
The evaluation of the SynRM saliencies for rotor position estimation using a high-frequency zero sequence signal (ZSS) injection strategy is presented in this paper. The strategy injects a ZSS and evaluates its response in the $\alpha-\beta$ component.

Performance Comparison of SynRM and Novel FI-PMa-SynRM with Different Rotor Surface Layouts

2019 IEEE 4th International Future Energy Electronics Conference (IFEEC), 2019
This paper presents the comparison of the performance of a novel flux intensifying permanent magnet (PM) assisted synchronous reluctance motor (FI-PMa-SyRM) with different rotor surface layouts. A SynRM without embedded PM is also considered. This paper strengthens and completes a previous work where this novel FI-PMa-SynRM was proposed.

Efficiency Optimization Control of SynRM Drive

2006 SICE-ICASE International Joint Conference, 2006
This paper is proposed an efficiency optimization control algorithm for a synchronous reluctance motor(SynRM) which minimizes the copper and iron losses. Also, this paper presents a speed estimated control scheme of SynRM using artificial neural network(ANN).

Torque Control with MPC applied to a SynRM

2020 IEEE Congreso Bienal de Argentina (ARGENCON), 2020
In this work a model predictive control applied to a synchronous reluctance machine is carried out. The control is applied on the currents in quadrature through the torque reference, by predictive control by model in maximum torque per ampere mode without considering saturation and losses in the iron.

Motor Efficiency Determination of SynRM and Measurement Uncertainty

2019 International Aegean Conference on Electrical Machines and Power Electronics (ACEMP) & 2019 International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (OPTIM), 2019
Electric motors are one of the largest electricity usage in the world. It is estimated that they consume between 43% and 46% of global electricity consumption. Recent studies show that efficiency values of Synchronous reluctance motors (SynRMs) reach IE5 Ultra-Premium Efficiency Class.

Robust speed sensorless control to estimated error for PMa-SynRM

2016 IEEE Conference on Electromagnetic Field Computation (CEFC), 2016
Recently, the permanent magnet-assisted synchronous reluctance motor (PMa-SynRM) that can replace an induction motor has been studying because of the needs of the high efficiency motor development for the minimum energy performance standard (MEPS). PMa-SynRM requires the speed and position information of the rotor to control motor correctly. However, a

Maximum Torque Control of SynRM Drive with AIPI

Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, 2010
This paper proposes maximum torque control of SynRM drive using artificial intelligent(AI)PI and artificial neural network(ANN). The control method is applicable over the entire speed range and considered the limits of the inverter`s current and voltage rated value. For each control mode, a condition that determines the optimal axis current for maximum
