Synthetic Gene Circuits: Design with Directed Evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Synthetic circuits offer great promise for generating insights into nature's underlying design principles or forward engineering novel biotechnology applications. However, construction of these circuits is not straightforward.

Synthetic CT in Musculoskeletal Disorders

open access: yes, 2023
AbstractRepeated computed tomography (CT) examinations increase patients' ionizing radiation exposure and health costs, making an alternative method desirable. Cortical and trabecular bone, however, have short T2 relaxation times, causing low signal intensity on conventional magnetic resonance (MR) sequences.

Bone regeneration in critical size calvarial defects using synthetic hydroxyapatite and mineralized bovine tendon base materials: a micro-computed tomography analysis

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Technology, 2023
This investigation used materials based on synthetic hydroxyapatite and mineralized bovine tendon as a framework for bone regeneration and evaluated the osteoconductivity of these materials in the calvaria of Wistar rats in comparison to Bio-Oss ...

A Deep Learning Reconstruction Framework for Differential Phase-Contrast Computed Tomography with Incomplete Data

open access: yes, 2019
Differential phase-contrast computed tomography (DPC-CT) is a powerful analysis tool for soft-tissue and low-atomic-number samples. Limited by the implementation conditions, DPC-CT with incomplete projections happens quite often.

Co-delivery of human cancer-testis antigens with adjuvant in protein nanoparticles induces higher cell-mediated immune responses. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Nanoparticles have attracted considerable interest as cancer vaccine delivery vehicles for inducing sufficient CD8+ T cell-mediated immune responses to overcome the low immunogenicity of the tumor microenvironment.

Biochemical and immunochemical analysis of the arrangement of connexin43 in rat heart gap junction membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
A 43 × 10^3 M_r protein (designated connexin43 or Cx43) is a major constituent of heart gap junctions. The understanding of its arrangement in junctional membranes has been extended by means of site-directed antibodies raised against synthetic peptides ...

A fine grained heuristic to capture web navigation patterns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In previous work we have proposed a statistical model to capture the user behaviour when browsing the web. The user navigation information obtained from web logs is modelled as a hypertext probabilistic grammar (HPG) which is within the class of regular

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
