Cartilage in pulmonary valves of Syrian Hamsters

open access: yesAnnals of Anatomy - Anatomischer Anzeiger, 2001
The presence of cartilage in the pulmonary valve has been reported in birds, but not in mammals. We describe here the occurrence of cartilaginous tissue in the pulmonary valves of 40 (11.4%) of 351 Syrian hamsters examined using histological, histochemical and/or immunohistochemical techniques.

Inhibition of Sebaceous Gland Activity by Spironolactone in Syrian Hamster

open access: yes, 1982
In the animal model of the Syrian hamster the antiandrogenic action of spironolactone on the sebaceous glands of the ventral side of the pinna was examined.Spironolactone reduces both labeling index and cross-sectional surface area of sebaceous glands ...

Hamsters immunized with formalin-inactivated SARS-CoV-2 develop accelerated lung histopathological lesions and Th2-biased response following infection

open access: yesnpj Vaccines
One of the concerns regarding vaccine safety during the COVID-19 pandemic was the potential manifestation of vaccine-associated enhancement of disease (VAED) upon SARS-CoV-2 infection.

SV40 lymphomagenesis in Syrian golden hamsters

open access: yesVirology, 2009
Simian virus 40 (SV40) isolates differ in oncogenic potential in Syrian golden hamsters following intraperitoneal inoculation. Here we describe the effect of intravenous exposure on tumor induction by SV40. Strains SVCPC (simple regulatory region) and VA45-54(2E) (complex regulatory region) were highly oncogenic following intravenous inoculation ...

Armenian hamster female protein: a pentraxin under complex regulation

open access: yes, 1990
The serum of Armenian hamster (Cricetulus migratorius) contains a protein homologous to female protein (FP) that has been characterized in the Syrian (golden) hamster. Of unknown function, FP belongs to a family of proteins (called pentraxins) that have
