Fully Additive Vertical Organic Electrochemical Transistors on Renewable and Compostable Substrates Enable Ultrasensitive Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fully additive vertical organic electrochemical transistors (vOECTs) with channel‐length of 226 nm on a 50 µm compostable substrate achieve >106 current modulation and ∼36 mS transconductance. Ion‐selective integration enables 1.1 mA dec−1 sensitivity and 36 µm detection limit, highlighting a scalable platform for sustainable electronics and ...

Acute abdomen due to ingestion of disposable syringes, pens, steel rods, blades, tooth brush, wooden sticks and screws by a schizophrenia patient – A case report

open access: yesArchives of Mental Health, 2016
Background: The relationship between eating disorders and schizophrenia is not clear. In most of the cases where foreign body ingestion was observed in patients with schizophrenia, often some relation to their auditory hallucinations was observed.

Social-structural contexts of needle and syringe sharing behaviours of HIV-positive injecting drug users in Manipur, India: a mixed methods investigation

open access: yesHarm Reduction Journal, 2011
Background Few investigations have assessed risk behaviours and social-structural contexts of risk among injecting drug users (IDUs) in Northeast India, where injecting drug use is the major route of HIV transmission.

Transparent Deformable Thin Film Electric Heater for Stable and Accurate Control of High Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Au/GaOx‐based transparent heaters combine high optical transmittance and low sheet resistance with exceptional thermal stability up to 521°C for over 6 h. The interfacial GaOx layer suppresses dewetting of Au and enhances adhesion, ensuring mechanical robustness during deformation and reliability for real‐world applications including grilling ...

The contents of the syringe [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 2008
The influenza vaccine failed this winter. Steven Salzberg suggests that future success relies on sharing data more widely and making the virus strain selection process more transparent. The 'official' influenza vaccine failed this year. Each year the World Health Organization selects strains for the vaccine based on epidemiological data.

Bio‐Derived Polyelectrolyte Additive–Induced Interfacial Ion‐Diffusion Barriers for Nonvolatile Organic Artificial Synapses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sodium alginate regulates interfacial ion transport and retention in electrolyte‐gated synaptic transistors. The carboxylate‐rich polymeric network forms a dynamic interfacial ion‐diffusion barrier that facilitates ion injection during programming while suppressing ion back‐diffusion, thereby stabilizing the electrochemically doped channel state.

Biomimetic Microfractals Based Flexible Triboelectric Nanogenerators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A leaf‐skeleton‐based microfractal architecture is integrated with guided CuNW networks and biomimetic triboelectric polymer layers, enabling breathable, flexible, and material‐efficient triboelectric nanogenerators. The resulting system combines enhanced charge generation and charge transport, offering potential for next‐generation self‐powered ...

Not sold here: limited access to legally available syringes at pharmacies in Tijuana, Mexico

open access: yesHarm Reduction Journal, 2011
Background Sterile syringe access is a critical component of HIV prevention programs. Although retail pharmacies provide convenient outlets for syringe access, injection drug users (IDUs) may encounter barriers to syringe purchase even where purchase ...
