Robust adaptive filtering algorithms using correntropy, Versoria, logarithmic cost, generalized soft root sign (GSRS), and hyperbolic cosine functions (HCF) have been successfully employed for the system identification (SI) problem under non-Gaussian ...

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

An Optimized Differential Step-Size LMS Algorithm
Adaptive algorithms with differential step-sizes (related to the filter coefficients) are well known in the literature, most frequently as “proportionate” algorithms. Usually, they are derived on a heuristic basis. In this paper, we introduce

Online Features in the MATLAB (R) System Identification Toolbox (TM)
Because of the increased demand on fault detection, monitoring and predictive maintenance, online or recursive identification is playing a more important role in systems engineering. In the recent releases of System Identification Toolbox (TM) for MATLAB

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

What does system identification have to offer?
This contribution concerns the application of system identification to real-life problems. What system identification has to offer depends upon the objective the user has in mind and the prior knowledge he has about the system. The authors show how these
