A By-Product Production System with an Alternative

Management Science, 1978
This paper considers the optimal control of a production system which is composed of two distinct production processes, types A and B, that produce two different products, 1 and 2, having distinct random demands. Production type A produces both products in amounts determined by a fixed set of production coefficients.

A Production Scheduling System

ORSA Journal on Computing, 1993
A knowledge-based scheduling system is described for a real case study. The problem is solved for a plant with multipurpose machines and job-shop batch characteristics. Given the available machines, the list of production orders, the products' due-dates and process description for each product, the system sequences machines for all required products ...

Inconsistency of production systems

Data & Knowledge Engineering, 1989
Abstract Production systems are widely used for knowledge representation in expert systems. Using production systems it is possible to specify inconsistent knowledge, but in the case of inconsistency the world kept in mind when establishing the knowledge is most probably not formalized.

Relational production systems☆

Artificial Intelligence, 1977
A relational production system (rps) is a general purpose, formal information processing model developed to support research in artificial intelligence and related areas where a conjunction of predicate calculus literals is a convenient state description language. Rps maintains a strong analogy with type O string grammars. It consists of a "situation",

Production systems with feedback

ACM SIGART Bulletin, 1977
Production systems provide a methodology for using knowledge embedded in (condition A action) pairs. An action is performed when its conditions match the state of a current data base. When multiple conditions match the data base simultaneously, however, the problem arises of which productions should be executed.
