Channel Estimation With Systematic Polar Codes [PDF]
Study of polar codes in fading channels is of great importance when applying polar codes in wireless communications. Channel estimation is a fundamental step for communication to be possible in fading channels. For both systematic and non-systematic polar codes, construction of them is based on an information set and the known frozen bits.

Parallel concatenated systematic polar codes
A parallel concatenated coding structure, which can improve the performance of polar codes in finiteālength regime, is proposed. In the proposed structure, the encoder is built using two systematic polar codes (SPCs), and the decoder adopts iterative belief propagation decoding algorithm.

Systematic Polar Coded Modulation for Informed Receivers
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2021The problem of coding for informed receivers (IR) is considered, where a transmitter multicasts a bunch of messages to its associated receivers, each of which already has a subset of messages as side information. Which receiver has what side information is unknown to the transmitter. A family of polar codes for IR was proposed for binary-input channels

On the encoding complexity of systematic polar codes
2015 28th IEEE International System-on-Chip Conference (SOCC), 2015Systematic polar codes are proposed by Arikan and are shown to have better BER performance than non-systematic polar codes. From a recursive decomposition of the generator matrix of polar codes, Arikan showed that the encoding complexity of systematic polar codes is also O(N log N) where N is the code block length.

Staircase construction with non-systematic polar codes
Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) 2020, 2020We propose staircase codes based on non-systematic polar codes, describing a general framework for encoding and decoding, and presenting simulation results showing the effectiveness of the proposed approach even with short component codes.

Construction of Systematic Polar Codes: BER Optimization Perspective
2020 IEEE Information Theory Workshop (ITW), 2021Code construction is a critical issue for polar coding. The expected construction method is of an accurate estimate of the reliability of bit-channels, but the current methods usually require high computational complexity. In this paper, we concern the input-output weight distribution of each bit-channel and derive its recursive calculation algorithm ...
