Insights into pegRNA design from editing of the cardiomyopathy‐associated phospholamban R14del mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how prime editing guide RNA (pegRNA) secondary structure and reverse transcriptase template length affect prime editing efficiency in correcting the phospholamban R14del cardiomyopathy‐associated mutation. Insights support the design of structurally optimized enhanced pegRNAs for precise gene therapy.

Treatment-resistant depression: A systematic review of systematic reviews

open access: yesInternational Journal of Clinical and Health Psychology, 2014
AbstractThe objective of this research study was to assess pharmacological, somatic and/or psychological treatments in adults with a diagnosis of major depressive disorder who have not responded to at least one course of antidepressant medication. We conducted a systematic review to identify systematic scientific reviews and meta-analyses on treatment ...

Single‐cell insights into the role of T cells in B‐cell malignancies

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Single‐cell technologies have transformed our understanding of T cell–tumor cell interactions in B‐cell malignancies, revealing new T‐cell subsets, functional states, and immune evasion mechanisms. This Review synthesizes these findings, highlighting the roles of T cells in pathogenesis, progression, and therapy response, and underscoring their ...

Predicting Outcomes From Radical Radiotherapy for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review of the Existing Literature

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2018
Radical radiotherapy (RT) is a potentially curative treatment in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and is delivered in conventional 2-Gy fractions, hypofractionated and ablative stereotactic courses.

Intron‐oriented HTLV‐1 integration in an adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma cell line sustains expression of intact ift81 mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In the adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) cell line ED, the human T‐cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV‐1) provirus was integrated into the intron of the ift81 gene in the antisense orientation. Despite this integration, both the intact ift81 and the viral oncogene hbz were simultaneously expressed, likely due to the functional insufficiency of viral ...

Cyclic nucleotide signaling as a drug target in retinitis pigmentosa

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Disruptions in cGMP and cAMP signaling can contribute to retinal dysfunction and photoreceptor loss in retinitis pigmentosa. This perspective examines the mechanisms and evaluates emerging evidence on targeting these pathways as a potential therapeutic strategy to slow or prevent retinal degeneration.

Rewriting the dendritic cell code in cancer—from subset identity to immunotherapeutic design

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Dendritic cells (DCs) play central roles in cancer immunity but are often subverted by the tumor microenvironment. This review explores the diversity of DC subsets, their functional plasticity, and emerging therapeutic strategies to reprogram DCs for enhanced antitumor responses, including vaccines, in vivo targeting, and DC‐based immunotherapies ...

Gestational diabetes mellitus in relation to serum per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances: A scoping review to evaluate the need for a new systematic review [version 2; peer review: 2 approved]

open access: yesF1000Research
Background Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) were used or are being used in the manufacturing of products, including consumer-use products. The resulting environmental contamination has led to widespread human exposure.
