Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Association between stroke and systemic inflammation response index (SIRI): a National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) Study 2015–2020

open access: yesBMJ Neurology Open
Objectives The present study aimed to compare the relationship between history of stroke and four different inflammatory indices, including high-sensitivity C reactive protein (hsCRP), inflammatory burden index (IBI), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR),

The Predictive Role of Systemic Inflammation Response Index (SIRI) in the Prognosis of Stroke Patients

open access: yesClinical Interventions in Aging, 2021
Purpose Stroke is a disease associated with high mortality. Many inflammatory indicators such as neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), lymphocyte to monocyte ratio (LMR) and red blood cell distribution width (RDW) have

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Evaluation of pseudoexfoliation syndrome patients with systemic immune indexes

open access: yesBMC Ophthalmology
Purpose The aim of this study was to investigate the level of peripheral blood systemic immune indexes in pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PXS) patients and to compare the results with healthy controls.

Prognostic importance of the systemic inflammatory index and the systemic inflammatory response index in COVID-19 patients

open access: yesEmergency Care Journal
COVID-19 can cause a wide range of effects on patients, from asymptomatic cases to mortality. Many factors can affect the prognosis of the disease. Our study aims to evaluate the predictive power of the Systemic Inflammatory Index (SII) and Systemic ...

Systemic inflammation response index and aggregate inflammation systemic index in male and female cancers: Implication for gender based immunotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Experimental Investigations, 2023
Background: Several blood cell ratios have emerged as easy and minimally evasive inflammatory markers of cancer progression and management. Systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) and aggregate inflammation systemic index (AISI), which are reliable indicators of inflammation because they are calculated using more than two immune ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Prognostic and clinicopathological impact of systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) on patients with esophageal cancer: a meta-analysis

open access: yesSystematic Reviews
Although the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) is often associated with prognostic significance in esophageal cancer (EC) patients, the results continue to be conflicting.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
