Network Position in Global Trade Systems and Cyberattack Risk: Evidence from Country-Level Trade Networks, 2010–2020

open access: yesSystems
Cyberattacks increasingly generate systemic economic and geopolitical effects in an era of dense global interdependence. While prior research emphasises geopolitical rivalry, institutional capacity, and technological sophistication as determinants of ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Economic Growth and Sustainability Systems Thinking for a Complex World

open access: yes, 2015
How to sustain our world for future generations has perplexed us for centuries. We have reached a crossroads: we may choose the rocky path of responsibility or continue on the paved road of excess that promises hardship for our progeny.

Emergency Medical Services Clinicians and COVID-19 Booster Behavior—A Cross-Sectional National Evaluation

open access: yesVaccines
Background/Objectives: Emergency Medical Services (EMS) clinicians in the US have high COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy rates and often do not receive primary vaccinations or subsequent boosters.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Systems Thinking: An introduction for Oxfam programme staff

open access: yes, 2015
Development organizations frequently face and overcome challenges in programme delivery. But what happens when the proposed solutions fail? How can organizations adapt to changing conditions and ensure the benefits of programmes are shared as widely as ...
