Intelligent design of network multimedia using big data and virtual Artificial Intelligence technology

open access: yesIET Networks, EarlyView., 2023
The topic discussed was the intelligent design of network multimedia using BD and virtual AI technology. First of all, the authors gave a brief overview of its relevant research background, and then comprehensively analysed the advantages and disadvantages of previous scholars' research on network multimedia.

Effect of video‐based game therapy on activation of scapular muscles in children with thoracic hyperkyphosis

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Game‐based rehabilitation has been shown to support motor control and muscle activation in children; therefore, video‐based gaming may represent a promising rehabilitation approach for targeting scapular muscles. Objective To examine the effects of video‐based game therapy on scapular muscle activation, strength, and upper extremity

Using art history to explore society's changing connections with agriculture

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Food insecurity is a looming challenge that especially affects those least fortunate. Consumer food choices have a substantial impact on the sustainability of current food systems. Here, we use art as a lens through which to consider our contemporary and historical relationship to one of the world's most crucial crops, the potato, in the context of the

Spatial observation‐error correlations for AMSU‐A in all‐sky assimilation: An ECMWF and UK Met Office intercomparison

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Assimilation of AMSU‐A all‐sky observations can be increased up to fivefold if spatial observation‐error correlations are accounted for properly. New correlation estimates derived using data from ECMWF and the UK Met Office reveal that correlation length‐scales are between 75 and 150 km for AMSU‐A channels peaking in the troposphere. This is attributed

Using microwave imager observations to improve the ocean temperature in a coupled NWP system

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
A recent upgrade to the ECMWF IFS has implemented outer‐loop coupling between the atmosphere and the ocean. This work uses this method to pass ocean skin temperature estimates derived from satellite‐borne microwave imagers to the ocean data assimilation system; the updated ocean state is then passed back to the atmospheric system.

Coupled observation‐operator approximations in outer‐loop coupling data assimilation

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
We present a methodology for coupled variational data assimilation that allows the effect of coupled observation operators whilst maintaining separate minimisations across model components. This allows us to constrain the atmosphere, ocean, and sea‐ice components of our coupled model directly from satellite radiances. We illustrate the system in action

CLEAR Interference Cancellation in a Wideband Dual‐Channel Receiver for Independent Satellite Multi‐Connectivity Links

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, the correlation learning estimation and adaptive reduction (CLEAR) of interference, an adaptive, blind and transparent interference compensation method applied in a wideband dual‐channel receiver, is studied for a pair of independent satellite multi‐connectivity links, using the same carrier frequency and signal bandwidth in use

Screening the Thaw Era: Romanian Television in the 60s as a Public Service Television

open access: yesFrench Journal for Media Research, 2014
Cet article a pour but d’évaluer le rôle de la télévision roumaine dans la modernisation de la société à partir du début des années 1960 et jusqu’à la montée en puissance de la dictature de Nicoale Ceausescu, dix ans plus tard.

Reasoning Together or Clicking Though? Analyzing Patterns of Group Science Talk On and Off Individualized Computers

open access: yesScience Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this article, I examine group science talk within the classrooms of three urban secondary science teachers who regularly use one‐to‐one computers to mediate their NGSS‐aligned science instruction. I combine methods of framing analysis (Goffman 1974; Tannen 1993) and interaction analysis (Jordan and Henderson 1995) to illustrate differences ...
