Immune alterations in vestibular neuritis: a retrospective database pilot study on T and B lymphocyte profiles and cytokine levels [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
BackgroundVestibular neuritis (VN) etiology remains elusive, with hypotheses suggesting viral infection, non-infectious inflammation, or immune responses.

Chemoattractant lymphokines specific for the helper/inducer T-lymphocyte subset

open access: yesCellular Immunology, 1985
The cellular content of T-lymphocyte-rich inflammatory sites is dependent in part on the in situ elaboration of chemoattractant factors. We have previously described three T-lymphocyte-specific chemoattractant lymphokines; a chemokinetic factor, lymphocyte chemoattractant factor (LCF, MW 56,000), and two distinct lymphocyte migration inhibitory factors

Heterogeneity of helper/inducer T lymphocytes. I. Lymphokine production and lymphokine responsiveness. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1987
Antigen-specific, Ia-restricted helper/inducer T lymphocytes consist of subsets that can be distinguished by lymphokine secretion. One, called Th1, secretes IL-2 and the other, termed Th2, produces BSF-1/IL-4 in response to stimulation by lectin or antigen receptor signals, and each uses the respective lymphokine as its autocrine growth factor.

Clearance of Giardia muris infection requires helper/inducer T lymphocytes. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1987
The aim of this work was to identify the T cell subset (helper/inducer or cytotoxic/suppressor) that plays a major part in the clearance of Giardia muris infection. BALB/c mice were selectively depleted of helper/inducer (Th/i) or cytotoxic/suppressor (Tc/s) T cells, by treatment with rat IgG monoclonal antibodies directed against the Th/i cell surface

Transfusions enriched for W3/25+ helper/inducer T lymphocytes prevent spontaneous diabetes in the BB/W rat [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetologia, 1987
Transfusions of spleen cells are known to prevent spontaneous autoimmune diabetes in susceptible BB/W rats, while T cell-depleted transfusions are ineffective. To characterize further the protective cell(s), we transfused young diabetes prone rats with splenocytes from diabetes resistant BB/W rats that were treated in vitro to enrich them in either OX8+

Heterogeneity of helper/inducer T lymphocytes. II. Effects of interleukin 4- and interleukin 2-producing T cell clones on resting B lymphocytes. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1988
To compare the helper function of murine T cell clones that secrete IL-2 and IFN-gamma (Th1 cells) or IL-4 and IL-5 (Th2), purified resting B cells were stimulated with F(ab')2 rabbit anti-mouse Ig (RAMG) and rabbit Ig-specific, class II MHC-restricted cloned T cells belonging to the two subsets.

Development of Human ILCs and Impact of Unconventional Cytotoxic Subsets in the Pathophysiology of Inflammatory Diseases and Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
Innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) were firstly described by different independent laboratories in 2008 as tissue-resident innate lymphocytes mirroring the phenotype and function of T helper cells. ILCs have been subdivided into three distinct subgroups, ILC1,

Immunological alterations in patients with primary tumors in central nervous system [PDF]

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 1999
Natural killer (NK) cells play an important role in immune surveillance against tumors. The present work aimed to study the cytotoxic activity of NK cells and T cell subsets in peripheral blood of 13 patients with primary tumors in central nervous system
