Getting old through the blood. Circulating molecules in aging and senescence of cardiovascular regenerative cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Global aging is a hallmark of our century. The natural multifactorial process resulting in aging involves structural and functional changes, affecting molecules, cells, and tissues.

Tissue Plasminogen Activator in Psoriasis

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1990
Elevated levels of the serine proteinase plasminogen activator are observed in psoriatic lesions. In contrast to normal epidermis, lesional psoriatic epidermis contains primarily tissue type plasminogen activator (tPA) activity and much lower levels of urokinase type plasminogen activator (uPA) activity.

Clinical and plasma proteomic characterization of heart failure with supranormal left ventricular ejection fraction: An emerging entity of heart failure

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Heart failure (HF) with supranormal ejection fraction (HFsnEF) is an unnoticed but emerging entity in HF. This study showed that HFsnEF carries a similarly increased cardiovascular risk as HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and distinct structural and proteomic characteristics from HFrEF, warranting a further comprehensive understanding and ...

Evaluating the expression of urokinase and tissue leukocyte being in benign and malignant breast disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Introduction: Our objectives is to show that the expression of uPA leukocyte could be considered, in the future, as a marker of the expression of uPA in the malignant tissue and therefore a potential indicator of prognosis.

Methodological factors influencing measurement and processing of plasma reelin in humans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
BACKGROUND: Reelin, intensively studied as an extracellular protein that regulates brain development, is also expressed in a variety of tissues and a circulating pool of reelin exists in adult mammals.

Research progress of neurovascular units involved in ischemic stroke

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
The brain receives less blood when an ischemic stroke develops, which damages neurons and leads to an increased release of Pro‐inflammatory mediators that activate neurovascular unit (NVU). When the tight junctions are broken and the basement membrane is disrupted by matrix metalloproteinases produced by active endothelial and pericellular cells ...

Measuring the metastatic potential of cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Cancer cells must secrete proteolytic enzymes to invade adjacent tissues and migrate to a new metastatic site. Urokinase (uPA) is a key enzyme related to metastasis in cancers of the lung, colon, gastric, uterine, breast, brain, and malignant melanoma. A
