Full Vectorial Field Sensing Using Liquid Crystal Droplet Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An inkjet‐printed liquid crystal droplet array enables compact, low‐cost, single‐shot sensing of the full vectorial light field. Within a single platform, it simultaneously retrieves intensity, polarization, and phase, while dual‐wavelength operation highlights its capability for multi‐wavelength optical field characterization. ABSTRACT Determining the

A pseudoboehmite-silane hybrid coating for enhanced corrosion protection of AA2024-T3

open access: yes, 2010
This work reports the performance of pseudoboehmite (PB)-silane hybrid coatings for the corrosion protection of AA2024-T3. A survey of the coating pretreatment and treatment steps was undertaken to reveal the electrochemical impact of such treatments on ...

Steric Coordination Modulated Iodine Chemistry With Four‐Electron Conversion for Zinc‐Iodine Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐additive electrolyte strategy is developed to address the hydrolysis of I+ in the aqueous electrolytes. The steric‐hindrance effect of TES− effectively shields I+ from nucleophilic attacks by hydroxyl groups, facilitating the reversible I−/I0/I+ conversion with four‐electron transfer.

Psychological well-being on thyroid hormone replacement [PDF]

open access: yes
Despite 100 years after the discovery of thyroxine, controversy still exists regarding optimal thyroid hormone replacement therapy. Several anecdotal reports suggest that thyroxine alone therapy does not normalise psychological wellbeing.

Large Faraday Rotation in Liquid Crystals With Embedded Paramagnetic Ions (Cu2+, VO2+) at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Large Faraday rotation at room temperature is observed in thin films of discotic copper (Cu2+: 3d9) and vanadyl (VO2+: 3d1) enaminoketone complexes. The large Verdet constant originates from a high density of paramagnetic centers, metal‐ligand p−d hybridization and π orbitals involved in optical transitions (identified by DFT calculations), as well as ...

Effect of processing on grain size and corrosion of AA2024-T3

open access: yes, 2011
Recent works on high-purity materials have indicated that microstructural modification via grain refinement can alternately reduce or enhance corrosion, depending on the specific material-environment combination.

Electrochemical assessment of interfacial characteristics of intermetallic phases present in aluminium alloy 2024-T3

open access: yes, 2015
Impedance spectra for the secondary phase particles that populate in aluminium alloy 2024-T3 are presented. Such impedance data using an electrochemical microcell have not been previously reported, and were possible via a fast Fourier transform-based ...
