Estimation

open access: yesHBRC Journal, 2015
Most seismic design codes generally provide formulas to be used for the estimation of the base shear and lateral loads. For the determination of the lateral loads, it is required to estimate first the fundamental vibration period of the building ...

Construction of regular quasi-cyclic protograph LDPC codes based on Vandermonde matrices

open access: yes, 2008
In this contribution, we investigate the attainable performance of quasi-cyclic (QC) protograph Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes for transmission over both Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and uncorrelated Rayleigh channels.

A global perspective on library association codes of ethics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This study of 28 countries involves comparative content analysis of the English versions of codes of ethics proposed by professional associations. It yielded an empirically grounded typology of principles arranged in twenty categories.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Quantum Lego and XP Stabilizer Codes [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum
We apply the recent graphical framework of "Quantum Lego" to XP stabilizer codes where the stabilizer group is generally non-Abelian. We show that the idea of operator matching continues to hold for such codes and is sufficient for generating all their ...

Amalgamated Generalized Low Density Parity Check and Luby Transform Codes for the Wireless Internet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Luby Transform codes (LT) were originally designed for the Binary Erasure Channel (BEC) encountered owing to randomly dropped packets in the statistical multiplexing aided Internet, where transmitted packets are not affected by the fading or noise of the

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Wireless MIMO Systems Employing Joint Turbo-Like STBC Codes With Bit-Level Algebraically-Interleaved URSCs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, permutations constructed based on algebraic derivations which are of particular interests due to better error-rate performance as well as simpler and practical hardware implementations, have been used in designing high performance fully ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Widespread compensatory evolution conserves DNA-encoded nucleosome organization in yeast.

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2010
Evolution maintains organismal fitness by preserving genomic information. This is widely assumed to involve conservation of specific genomic loci among species.
