Magnetospheric accretion in T Tauri stars
This presentation focuses on the current status of and challenges related to the magnetospheric accretion process in young stars. It also highlights recent efforts to characterize structure and dynamics of the magnetic star-disk interaction region from an observational approach combining various techniques (e.g. spectropolarimetry, interferometry, high-

Magnetic Fields of T Tauri Stars [PDF]
The magnetic field strengths of several T Tauri stars are derived by measuring the width of unblended Fe I lines of high and low values of geff·λ2 using the autocorrelation function. The T Tauri stars were selected for their low values of v · sin i, and large strengths of the Ca II emission component.

c2d Spitzer IRS Spectra of Disks around T Tauri Stars. III. [Ne II], [Fe I], and H2 Gas-Phase Lines [PDF]
We present a survey of mid-infrared gas-phase lines toward a sample of 76 circumstellar disks around low-mass pre-main-sequence stars from the Spitzer "Cores to Disks" legacy program.

Orbital motion in T Tauri binary systems [PDF]
Using speckle-interferometry we have carried out repeated measurements of relative positions for the components of 34 T Tauri binary systems. The projected separation of these components is low enough that orbital motion is expected to be observable ...

Antinomies of Alignment Redux: The United Arab Emirates and the United States
Abstract Over the past three decades, the United Arab Emirates has forged a sturdy bilateral security alignment with the United States. It has also pursued foreign policies that conflict with US interests in the Gulf and the broader Middle East. This contradiction is usually attributed to a hedging strategy.

The evolution of stars in the Taurus-Auriga T association
In a recent study, individual parallaxes were determined for many stars of the Taurus-Auriga T association that are members of the same moving group. We use these new parallaxes to re-address the issue of the relationship between classical T Tauri stars (

Star formation environments and the distribution of binary separations [PDF]
We have carried out K-band speckle observations of a sample of 114 X-ray selected weak-line T Tauri stars in the nearby Scorpius-Centaurus OB association. We find that for binary T Tauri stars closely associated to the early type stars in Upper Scorpius,

ABSTRACT Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is alarmingly prevalent in sub‐Saharan Africa, where populations often rely on nutrient‐poor staple crops as their primary energy source. The East African highland banana (EAHB), a staple for millions in Uganda and most of East Africa's highlands, contains insufficient iron to meet dietary needs.

Magnetic activity and hot Jupiters of young Suns: The weak-line T Tauri stars V819 Tau and V830 Tau [PDF]
We report results of a spectropolarimetric and photometric monitoring of the weak-line T Tauri stars (wTTSs) V819 Tau and V830 Tau within the MaTYSSE (Magnetic Topologies of Young Stars and the Survival of close-in giant Exoplanets) programme, involving ...
