Investigative Tagging: Modelling the Early Modern Cabinet of Curiosities

open access: yesDigital Studies, 2014
This paper presents an experiment in "investigative tagging" applied to a project that is building an archive of early modern collections of curiosities.

Diacritic Restoration and the Development of a Part-of-Speech Tagset for the Māori Language [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This thesis investigates two fundamental problems in natural language processing: diacritic restoration and part-of-speech tagging. Over the past three decades, statistical approaches to diacritic restoration and part-of-speech tagging have grown in ...

Tag Separation in Cardiac Tagged MRI [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper we introduce a tag separation method for better cardiac boundary segmentation and tag tracking. Our approach is based on two observations in the cardiac tagged MR images: 1) the tag patterns have a regular texture; 2) the cardiac images without tag patterns are piecewise smooth with sparse gradients.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Spatial Ecology of the Population of Reef Manta Rays (Mobula alfredi) in New Caledonia Using Satellite Telemetry 2—Vertical Behaviour

open access: yesFishes
In the dynamic and increasingly threatened marine environment, understanding the full spatial ecology of species like the reef manta ray (Mobula alfredi) is crucial for effective conservation.

Tagging in Volunteered Geographic Information: An Analysis of Tagging Practices for Cities and Urban Regions in OpenStreetMap

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2016
In Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) projects, the tagging or annotation of objects is usually performed in a flexible and non-constrained manner. Contributors to a VGI project are normally free to choose whatever tags they feel are appropriate to

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Reader Responses to Online Reporting of Tagged Bird Behavior

open access: yesAnimals
This paper explores responses to online coverage of an avian tracking project. Researchers attached novel trackers to a small group of wild magpies (Gymnorhina tibicen).
