Directional preference of European lobster (Homarus gammarus) movements on the Yorkshire Coast

Recaptures of 838 tagged Homarus gammarus individuals identified a directional preference, with bearings from release to recapture concentrated along a North-West to South-East axis, aligning with the predominant current direction for the study site.

Tag Separation in Cardiac Tagged MRI [PDF]

In this paper we introduce a tag separation method for better cardiac boundary segmentation and tag tracking. Our approach is based on two observations in the cardiac tagged MR images: 1) the tag patterns have a regular texture; 2) the cardiac images without tag patterns are piecewise smooth with sparse gradients.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
