SILENT THREATS: INTESTINAL PARASITIC INFECTIONS IN CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE PATIENTS IN ALGERIA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Egyptian Society of Parasitology
Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are immunocompromised and more susceptible to opportunistic infections, including gastrointestinal parasites. Parasites in CKD are more or less limited in North African countries.

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Risk Factors of the Long Tail in Mobile Manga Sales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
After the Long Tail was proposed by Chris Anderson in 2004, people started believing his theory that internet services, such as Amazon.com, can achieve great success in retailing.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Function of the tail in myliobatid rays: role in controlling body stability

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science
Eagle rays, cownose rays and manta rays are the only batoid families exhibiting oscillatory locomotion, and are characterized by long, slender tails. This study investigates whether tail length influences body stability when the pectoral fins are held in

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Post-apocalyptic protest, or ideological deformation of the "archetypical family" in the movie "Snowpiercer" / Постапокалиптический протест, или идеологическая деформация «архетипического семейства» в фильме «Сквозь снег»

open access: yesИндустрии впечатлений: Технологии социокультурных исследований
The article analyzes the film Through the Snow (2013), directed by Pong Jun-ho, as a multi-layered socio-political dystopia that embodies archetypal scenarios of an isolated and simultaneously dynamic post-apocalyptic society. The film's central theme is

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created
