Extremal Dependence in International Output Growth: Tales from the Tails [PDF]

open access: yes
The statistical modelling of extreme values has recently received substantial attention in a broad spectrum of sciences. Given that in a wide variety of scenarios, one is mostly concerned with explaining tail events (say, an economic recession) than ...

Methods of Tail Dependence Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Characterization and quantification of climate extremes and their dependencies are fundamental to the studying of natural hazards. This chapter reviews various parametric and nonparametric tail dependence coefficient estimators.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Tail Risk in Weather Derivatives

open access: yesCommodities
Weather derivative markets, particularly Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Heating Degree Day (HDD) and Cooling Degree Day (CDD) futures, face challenges from complex temperature dynamics and spatially heterogeneous co-extremes that standard Gaussian ...

Tail behavior of a sum of two dependent and heavy-tailed distributions

open access: yesJournal of Statistics and Management Systems, 2018
We consider the problem of a sum of two dependent and heavy tailed distributions through the C-convolution.

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

On Tail Index Estimation for Dependent, Heterogenous Data [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we analyze the asymptotic properties of the popular distribution tail index estimator by B. Hill (1975) for possibly heavy- tailed, heterogenous, dependent processes.

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Spatial Tail Dependence and Survival Stability in a Class of Archimedean Copulas

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2016
This paper investigates properties of extensions of tail dependence of Archimax copulas to high dimensional analysis in a spatialized framework. Specifically, we propose a characterization of bivariate margins of spatial Archimax processes while spatial ...

Gaussian Tests of "Extremal White Noise" for Dependent, Heterogeneous, Heavy Tailed Strochastic Processes with an Application [PDF]

open access: yes
We develop a non-parametric test of tail-specific extremal serial dependence for possibly heavy-tailed time series. The test statistic is asymptotically chi-squared under a null of "extremal white noise", as long as extremes of the time series are Near ...
