A Deep Look into the Microbiology and Chemistry of Froth Treatment Tailings: A Review

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2021
In Alberta’s Athabasca oil sands region (AOSR), over 1.25 billion m3 of tailings waste from the bitumen extraction process are stored in tailings ponds.

Diamondoid diacids ('O4' species) in oil sands process-affected water. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
RATIONALE: As a by-product of oil sands extraction, large volumes of oil sands process water (OSPW) are generated, which are contaminated with a large range of water-soluble organic compounds.

Design and Color Prediction of Anthracene-Based Dyes Based on Quantum Chemical Calculations

open access: yesMolecules
We systematically investigated the parent anthracene (abbreviated as en-1, C14H10) and three N,N′-disubstituted derivatives: the 1,5-diethylanthracene (en-2, C18H18), the 1,5-divinylanthracene (en-3, C18H14), and the 1,5-diphenylanthracene (en-4, C26H18),

Experiment research and mechanism analysis on rheological properties of tailings slurry

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
The particle size and content of tailings are important parameters affecting the rheological properties of tailings slurry. To explore their influence law and mechanism on rheological properties, the experiments of tailings slurry were designed and ...

Seasonal changes in antioxidative/oxidative profile of mining and non-mining populations of Syrian beancaper as determined by soil conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Soil pollution by heavy metals/metalloids (HMMs) is a problem worldwide. To prevent dispersion of contaminated particles by erosion, the maintenance of a vegetative cover is needed.

Lifestyle Behaviors and Cardiotoxic Treatment Risks in Adult Childhood Cancer Survivors

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Higher doses of anthracyclines and heart‐relevant radiotherapy increase cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. This study assessed CVD and CVD risk factors among adult childhood cancer survivors (CCSs) across cardiotoxic treatment risk groups and examined associations between lifestyle behaviors and treatment risks.

Prolonged Corrected QT Interval as an Early Electrocardiographic Marker of Cyclophosphamide‐Induced Cardiotoxicity in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cyclophosphamide (CY) is associated with potentially fatal cardiotoxicity, yet no electrocardiographic indices have been established for early detection of CY‐induced cardiomyopathy. This study aimed to determine whether corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation can predict early onset of CY‐related cardiac dysfunction in pediatric ...

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

Investigating the Properties of Foamed Mixture Lightweight Soil Mixed with Bauxite Tailings as Filler

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
To make better use of large amounts of discarded bauxite tailings (BTs), a foamed mixture lightweight soil mixed with BTs as filler (FMLSB) was proposed. Using the orthogonal experimental design method, the effects of various contents of cement, BTs, and
