Single human fingertip mechanoreceptive afferents simultaneously encode multidimensional aspects of touch

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Mechanoreceptors in the fingertip skin allow us to explore objects and to feel a vast range of textures. We recorded responses from individual low‐threshold mechanoreceptive afferents in humans while dynamic stimuli were swept across their receptive fields, systematically varying force, velocity and spatial period.

Hypoxia‐induced vulnerability of the somatosensory nervous system

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Sensory neurons are highly energy dependent and rely on sufficient oxygen availability to maintain metabolic stability and effective neurocommunication. Within the somatosensory system, even modest reductions in tissue oxygen tension impair neuronal respiration, forcing a shift toward less efficient metabolic pathways that ...

Electrotactile frequency perception over multiple stimulation sites does not use a winner‐takes‐all mechanism

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Peripheral tactile afferents exhibit a wide range of response patterns to a pure frequency vibratory stimulus. Some afferents, including those remote from the stimulus site, fire at lower rates as they do not respond to every vibration cycle of the stimulus.

Density Conditions for k Vertex‐Disjoint Triangles in Tripartite Graphs

open access: yesJournal of Graph Theory, Volume 113, Issue 4, Page 634-649, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Let n , k be positive integers such that n ≥ k and G be a tripartite graph with parts A , B , C such that ∣ A ∣ = ∣ B ∣ = ∣ C ∣ = n. Denote the edge densities of G [ A , B ] , G [ A , C ] and G [ B , C ] by α , β and γ, respectively. In this paper, we study edge density conditions for the existence of k vertex‐disjoint triangles in a ...

Evidence‐based design guidelines for holistic scoring of student tasks: A systematic literature review

open access: yesReview of Education, Volume 14, Issue 3, December 2026.
Abstract Since holistic scoring leaves room for multiple solutions and creativity, it seems an efficient and effective way to evaluate student performance. However, in practice, there are different views of what holistic scoring entails, what matching instruments look like, and how they should be designed to reap the benefits and avoid the drawbacks ...
