Fisher's Ideas and the Design of Field Experiments in Agronomy and Plant Breeding

open access: yesBiometrical Journal, Volume 68, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT R. A. Fisher was one of the greatest scientists of the last century. He made many groundbreaking contributions, so many indeed that it seems almost impossible to list all of them. His revolutionary contributions to the design of experiments can mostly be traced back to the early part of his academic career, and they are inextricably linked to ...

Toward Comprehensive Climate Action: Assessing Mitigation Approaches Across Canadian Municipalities

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, Volume 36, Issue 5, Page 1265-1281, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Local governments are widely regarded as key leaders in the global response to climate change. Understanding if and how municipalities commit to climate mitigation is crucial for assessing their contribution to global emission‐reduction goals and identifying barriers to effective climate transitions.

Bridging Policy Gaps in Transition Times: How Local Actors Navigate Low Policy Coherence for Advancing a Circular Built Environment

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, Volume 36, Issue 5, Page 1458-1485, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The construction sector is a major contributor to the climate crisis, accounting for over one‐third of global energy‐related CO2 emissions. In response, the European Commission identified the circular economy as a means of achieving green growth and prioritized the construction sector in its Circular Economy Action Plan.

Sunlight‐Induced Lipid Oxidation and Degradation of Edible Oil Mediated by Hemoglobin: Implications for Food System Sustainability

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
Sunlight‐activated hemoglobin (Hb) functions as a robust natural biocatalyst that promotes the degradation of edible oils through a dual, synergistic pathway. Photo‐excitation of Hb triggers simultaneous energy transfer, generating singlet oxygen (1O2) and electron transfer, forming highly reactive ferryl (HbFe(IV)═O) species.

In Transected Nerves, Distal Repair Schwann Cells at the Injury Site Direct and Accelerate Axonal Regrowth

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 10, October 2026.
After nerve transection in larval zebrafish, proximal and distal Schwann cells have distinct functions at the injury site. Distal repair Schwann cells promote axonal regrowth. Axonal regrowth is normal in mutants with only a few macrophages. ABSTRACT In vertebrate peripheral nerves, damaged axons can regrow after injury, but the outcomes of ...
