Sampling Talbot Interferometer

SPIE Proceedings, 1990
We describe an optical setup based in the Talbot effect, which uses two mutually incoherent sets of self-images to display simultaneously interferometric bright-field and dark-field images, in almost any combination of two complementary view-fields. This feature allows us to sample the object under test in many different places. A spatial filter can be

A Talbot interferometer with circular gratings

Optics Communications, 1972
Abstract The linear gratings in our Talbot interferometer are replaced by circular gratings. This new radial shearing interferometer is sensitive to the radial gradient of the object.

Talbot interferometer with computer generated gratings

Optics Communications, 1983
Abstract In a Talbot interferometer the self image of a periodic pattern, such as a Ronchi ruling of period d, illuminated by a monochromatic plane wavefront of wavelength λ, is formed at distances which are integral multiples of 2d2/λ. A refracting object placed in front of the Ronchi ruling distorts the self image.

Talbot interferometer as a time filter

Diffractive Optics and Micro-Optics, 2000
The Talbot interferometer consists of two gratings at a finite distance from each other. We consider a configuration of two phase gratings where the second coherently combines the diffraction orders generated by the first grating and discuss its use as a temporal filter. .

Simplified Talbot Interferometers for Lens Testing

Optical Engineering, 1976
Moire fringes and the Talbot self-imaging effect can be combined to produce shearing-interferometric-like maps of lens refractive power with high sensitivity and accuracy. Here we explore the properties of a simplified interferometer, consisting of a white-light source and two dissimilar gratings, designed to be rugged enough for field testing of ...

Talbot interferometer with simultaneous dark and bright fields

Applied Optics, 1989
We describe an optical setup for implementing a Talbot interferometer that uses two mutually incoherent sets of self-images to simultaneously produce interference bands due to dark and bright fields. A spatial filter can be used to visualize these fields without interference fringes. Experimental results are included.

Lateral aberration measurements with a digital Talbot interferometer

Applied Optics, 1984
A new technique for computer-based Talbot interferometry is presented. Fast and automatic aberration measurement has been achieved with improved accuracy and sensitivity. Experimental results are given that agree with the results of calculation by ray tracing.

Talbot interferometer based on a birefringence grating

Optics Communications, 2000
Abstract A 1-D coarse grating imaged onto a photorefractive Bi12SiO20 crystal is stored as modulation of birefringence. On this basis, the self-imaging phenomenon is implemented. When an analyzer is placed at the output of the crystal, the modulation of birefringence is converted into a modulation of transmission. In this case in the read-out process,
