Look-up table correction for beam hardening-induced signal of clinical dark-field chest radiographs. [PDF]

open access: yesMed Phys
Abstract Background The microstructure of material at a μm$\,\umu\mathrm{m}$ length scale leads to ultra‐small‐angle scattering of X‐rays, which typically occurs, e.g., for lung tissue or some plastic foams. When using an interferometer, this effect alters the visibility of the fringe pattern, which can be detected and resolved by the detector.

Automated alignment of XFEL nanofocusing mirrors via wavefront optimization. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Synchrotron Radiat
An automated alignment system for nanofocusing Kirkpatrick–Baez mirrors has been developed at SACLA. A wavefront optimization technique routinely provides nanofocused XFEL beams. An automated alignment procedure, based on wavefront measurement with a single‐grating interferometer, has been developed for precise tuning of Kirkpatrick–Baez nanofocusing ...

Simultaneous signal optimization of refraction and attenuation in x-ray grating interferometry: A case study for breast imaging. [PDF]

open access: yesMed Phys
Abstract Background X‐ray grating interferometry has emerged as a promising imaging technique for breast computed tomography (BCT), offering complementary contrast from refraction beyond conventional absorption imaging. Although it provides higher resolution, the required dose levels remain above those typically used for breast cancer diagnostic ...

Grating-based x-ray dark-field mammography: Assessing complementary imaging information in simple cystic lesions and typical fibroadenoma. [PDF]

open access: yesMed Phys
Abstract Background A significant proportion of false positive recalls of mammography‐screened women is due to benign breast cysts and simple fibroadenomas. These lesions appear mammographically as smooth‐shaped dense masses and require the recalling of women for a breast ultrasound to obtain complementary imaging information.

Structural properties in ruptured mitral chordae tendineae measured by synchrotron-based X-ray phase computed tomography. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Synchrotron Radiat, 2023
Tissue density measured by synchrotron‐based X‐ray phase computed tomography is shown to be associated with the fragility of the ruptured mitral chordae tendineae. The link between the structural properties and the rupturing of chordae tendineae in the mitral valve complex is still unclear. Synchrotron‐radiation‐based X‐ray phase computed tomography (SR‐

Demonstration of Neutron Phase Imaging Based on Talbot–Lau Interferometer at Compact Neutron Source RANS

open access: yesQuantum Beam Science, 2022
Neutron imaging based on a compact Talbot–Lau interferometer was demonstrated using the RIKEN accelerator-driven compact neutron source (RANS). A compact Talbot–Lau interferometer consisting of gadolinium absorption gratings and a silicon phase grating ...

High-speed quantitative X-ray multi-contrast imaging with deep learning based modulated pattern analysis. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Synchrotron Radiat
This work presents a neural‐network framework that accelerates X‐ray multi‐contrast imaging—simultaneously delivering absorption, phase, and dark‐field, while maintaining high spatial resolution, and outperforms correlation‐based methods in speed, achieving a favorable balance between resolution and throughput.

Two-grating Talbot bands spectral-domain interferometer [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2015
A configuration for Talbot bands is presented in which two tilted gratings replace the splitter normally used for recombining the signals from the two interferometer arms. The two optical beams from the interferometer are launched by two fiber leads tightly brought together in the front focal plane of a collimating lens.

Increased spatial coherence length from an asymmetric crystal reflection at grazing exit. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Synchrotron Radiat
A multiple crystal diffraction arrangement with a final asymmetric crystal diffracting at grazing exit was found to yield a 76% longer spatial coherence length compared with that for a beam directly exiting a double‐crystal monochromator.Coherent X‐ray imaging is an active field at synchrotron sources.

Ultrafast sub-nanometer matter-wave temporal Talbot effect

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2021
The coherent manipulation of the electron wavefunction at the atomic spatial and temporal scales is the fundamental breakthrough underlying far-reaching ultrafast phenomena as high-order harmonic radiation and attosecond pulse generation.
