A total of 35 patients treated in the years 1970 to 1977 for fractures of the talus were investigated for an analysis of the long-term clinical end results. Falling from height was the most common cause of injury (15 patients), the next most common being road traffic accidents (13 patients). The mean followup time was 8 years.

Talus bipartitus is an exceptional congenital malformation consisting in the presence of two non-fused bony talar fragments. We report the case of an adolescent girl who complained of mechanical pain in the left ankle which became increasingly invalidating.

Previous studies of frontal crash databases reported that ankle fractures are among the most common lower extremity fractures. While not generally life threatening, these injuries can be debilitating. Laboratory research into the mechanisms of ankle fractures has linked dorsiflexion with an increased risk of tibia and fibula malleolus fractures ...

Chondroblastomas are rare cartilaginous tumors that are found in the foot or ankle. They are usually located in portions of the humerus, tibia, or femur, and comprise approximately 1 to 3% of all osseous tumors. This is a unique case report of a chondroblastoma involving the talus of a young individual.

Talar osteonecrosis remains partially understood and a clinical challenge. Further research is necessary to elucidate the etiology, pathophysiology, and true incidence of this complex disorder fully. Optimal imaging strategies and staging systems also require further investigation.

There are numerous options for imaging talar pathology. Of these, radiography, CT, scintigraphy, and MRI are used most commonly. Advantages and limitations of these techniques should be considered when formulating an imaging algorithm for evaluation of the patient's clinical problem.

We report the case of a 13-year-old male child who presented with a painful left ankle. On imaging (radiography and computed tomography scan with 3-dimensional reconstruction views), an osteolytic lesion in the body of the talus was revealed. Open biopsy, curettage, and fibular bone grafting were done, and the specimen was sent for histopathologic ...

There is considerable debate regarding the appropriate treatment of the extruded talus regardless of the presence of a fracture. The purpose of this study was to report the clinical results, complications, and functional outcome following reimplantation of the traumatically extruded talus.A database of 119 patients with an open injury of the talus ...
