The integration of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and calcium signalling in abiotic stress responses
Abstract Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and calcium (Ca2+) signalling are interconnected in the perception and transmission of environmental signals that control plant growth, development and defence. The concept that systemically propagating Ca2+ and ROS waves function together with electric signals in directional cell‐to‐cell systemic signalling and ...

The two‐locus barcodes matK + ITS and ITS + ycf1 were the best‐performing combinations, allowing up to 69% and 70%, respectively, of correct identification. The use of short sequence repeats (SSR) can aid the identification of species, and the combination of both types of data (DNA barcoding and SSR) improved the success.

Commodity risk assessment of Acer palmatum plants grafted on Acer davidii from China
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to prepare and deliver risk assessments for commodities listed in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/2019 as ‘High risk plants, plant products and other objects’. This Scientific Opinion covers plant health risks posed by 2‐year‐old bare rooted plants for planting of ...

Pest categorisation of Maconellicoccus hirsutus
Abstract The EFSA Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of Maconellicoccus hirsutus (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae), the pink hibiscus mealybug, for the EU. M. hirsutus is native to Southern Asia and has established in many countries in tropical and subtropical regions throughout the world.

Population genetic diversity and environmental adaptation of Tamarix hispida in the Tarim Basin, arid Northwestern China. [PDF]
Arid ecosystems, characterized by severe water scarcity, play a crucial role in preserving Earth's biodiversity and resources. The Tarim Basin in Northwestern China, a typical arid region isolated by the Tianshan Mountains and expansive deserts, provides a special study area for investigating how plant response and adaptation to such environments ...

Abstract In 1814, A.W. Roth received a herbarium collection of some 1500 plants from Benjamin Heyne. Most of these specimens came from southern India where Heyne had worked as a doctor and naturalist since 1792. Roth wrote up the material in his book Novae plantarum, which was published in 1821.

Overexpression of ThSOS from Tamarix hispida improves salt tolerance [PDF]
Abstract Highlights ● The functional characterization of ThSOS genes were investigated by bioinformatics analysis and molecular characterization. ● ThSOS genes can respond to abiotic stresses (salt and drought) and hormone treatment (ABA). ● ThSOS3 gene overexpression increased ROS-scavenging capability and decreasing lipid peroxidation in ...
