Temperature and neuromuscular development in the tambaqui

Journal of Fish Biology, 1999
The development of muscle innervation pattern was investigated in larvae of the Amazonian fish, the tambaqui Colossoma macropomum. The time to hatching decreased from 28–29 h at 23.5° C to 11–12 h at 31° C. The larvae hatched after the completion of somitogenesis (38‐somite stage) at 23.5° C but only at the 33‐somite stage at 28–31° C.

Tambaqui’s sausage: sensory evaluation

South Florida Journal of Development, 2020
This work aimed to elaborate 2 formulations of tambaqui sausages, smoked freshness and cuiabana, and to perform their sensory evaluation. After preparation, the pasta was embedded in a casing and stored under refrigeration until the moment of smoking, in the case of freshness, and subsequently the analyzes were carried out.

Reciprocal modulation of O2 and CO2 cardiorespiratory chemoreflexes in the tambaqui

open access: yesRespiratory Physiology and Neurobiology, 2005
This study examined the effect of acute hypoxic and hypercapnic cardiorespiratory stimuli, superimposed on existing cardiorespiratory disturbances in tambaqui. In their natural habitat, these fish often encounter periods of hypoxic hypercapnia that can be acutely exacerbated by water turnover.

Praziquantel against monogeneans of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum)

Aquaculture International, 2021
Praziquantel (PZQ) is an anthelminthic drug that has been tested worldwide to treat parasitosis in farmed fish. Information regarding the applicability and sustainability of medications in tambaqui Colossoma macropomum farming is highly needed.

Methods of cryopreservation of Tambaqui semen, Colossoma macropomum

Animal Reproduction Science, 2015
This study compared three different techniques for sperm cryopreservation of Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum). Semen was diluted in Beltsville Thawing Solution with the addition of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) at various concentrations (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%).

The physiology of the Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) at pH 8.0

Journal of Comparative Physiology B, 2017
The Tambaqui is a model neotropical teleost which is of great economic and cultural importance in artisanal fisheries and commercial aquaculture. It thrives in ion-poor, often acidic Amazonian waters and exhibits excellent regulation of physiology down to water pH 4.0.
