No passado tentou-se a introdução do camarão M. rosenberguii no Estado de Roraima, porém a falta de manejo adequado e o custo elevado da ração levaram a decadência do projeto, contudo, o Estado apresenta condições propícias para o desenvolvimento da ...

Influence of fasting and refeeding cycles on growth, health and feeding costs of the Amazonian fish Colossoma macropomum [PDF]
Feed restriction can be used as a management strategy to increase feed efficiency through compensatory growth (a higher growth rate after a period of restricted feeding).

Feeding strategies and energy to protein ratio on tambaqui performance and physiology [PDF]
The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of feed deprivation and refeeding with diets containing different energy to protein ratios (E/P) on the performance and physiology of juvenile tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum). A 4x2 factorial arrangement with three replicates was used, with four E/P ratios (11.5, 10.5, 9.5, and 8.5 kcal g-1 ...

Abstract Forest cover is positively associated with fish biomass and fisheries yield in the Amazon River floodplain, and many species enter flooded forests to feed, spawn, or seek refuge from predation. Floating macrophyte beds, known as floating meadows, in Amazon floodplains support high fish diversity and serve as nursery habitat for many fishes of ...

Abstract The tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum, G. Cuvier 1818) thrives both in the ion‐poor waters of the Amazon and in commercial aquaculture. In both, environmental conditions can be harsh due to low ion levels, occasional high salt challenges (in aquaculture), low pH, extreme PO2 levels (hypoxia and hyperoxia), high PCO2 levels (hypercapnia), high ...

Spectrophotometric method for determination of Colossoma macropomum (tambaqui) sperm concentration
Abstract To assist the reproductive management of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) males in laboratory and commercial fish farming, a linear regression model was obtained from concentration curves using the spectrophotometric method. Twenty-two tambaqui males with an average age of three years old were selected and divided into two groups containing 11 ...

Abstract The Amazonian loricariid fish Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps, from the Rio Negro, and Pterygoplichthys pardalis, from the Rio Solimões, are facultative air‐breathers that can use the stomach as an air‐breathing organ. Measurement of oxygen uptake under progressive aquatic hypoxia revealed a relatively high hypoxia resistance of both species.

Protocol for tambaqui production based on stocking density and sex
The effective use to zootechnical technique involves a thorough knowledge of the target species. Reproductive characteristics, like growth, behavior and centesimal composition, are some of the main issues for the production the species to be viable in all aspects.
