Tamoxifen Therapy in Steroid Resistant Reidel's Thyroiditis
Scottish Medical Journal, 2001Riedel's thyroiditis is a rare chronic inflammatory disorder characterised by extensive fibrosis of the thyroid gland and sometimes the surrounding tissues. We report a case of Riedel's Thyroiditis in a middle aged female presenting with goitre, stridor and dyspnoea. She initially responded to corticosteroid treatment and subsequently to Tamoxifen. The

A mechanism of drug resistance to tamoxifen in breast cancer
The Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2002Drug resistance to tamoxifen (Tam) is a significant clinical problem but the mechanism through which this occurs remains elusive. We have developed a number of xenograft models of Tam-stimulated growth that model breast cancer progression using estrogen receptor positive MCF-7 or T47D breast cancer cells.

Tamoxifen Resistant and Refractory Breast Cancer
Drugs, 2002Tamoxifen has dominated endocrine treatment of breast cancer for over two decades. It is useful in metastatic breast cancer, adjuvant therapy, preoperative treatment, ductal carcinoma-in-situ and chemoprevention. However, breast cancer may be refractory to tamoxifen or develop resistance to it with ongoing treatment.

AbstractResearchers are encountering challenges in addressing the issue of cancer cells becoming unresponsive to various chemotherapy treatments due to drug resistance. This study was designed to study the influence of antioxidant resveratrol (RSV) to sensitize resistant breast cancer (BC) cells toward tamoxifen (TAM).

Tamoxifen and Multidrug Resistance in Cancer
1996So much has been said and written about the importance of multidrug resistance in cancer that it is hard to come up with an original introduction. Suffice to say that innate or acquired resistance to radiation and chemotherapy have become the major obstacle to successful cancer treatment.

Tamoxifen in clomiphene-resistant hypothalamic anovulation.
International journal of fertility, 1987Seventeen patients with clomiphene-resistant hypothalamic anovulation were given tamoxifen 10 mg per day from cycle day 5 to 9 during two consecutive menstrual cycles. Not included were patients with hyperprolactinemia and PCOD. Treatment was monitored using measurement of follicle size by ultrasound and assessment of serum estradiol.

MicroRNAs in Tamoxifen Resistance of Breast Cancer
2009Abstract : Three tasks have been proposed in this project: 1) Examine the expression of the miRNAs identified from the microarray profiling in human primary ERalpha-positive-tamoxifen-responsive vs. ERalpha-positive TMR and ERalpha-negative TMR breast cancers as well as intrinsic ERalpha-negative tumors; 2) Verify predictive targets of the miRNAs ...
